As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be responsible for designing and executing robust ETL/ELT data pipelines, creating and implementing database mappings, tables, and views, and building batch processes using Apache Airflow across multiple enterprise initiatives. You'll collaborate closely with our Studios and Project Technology partners on various activities including data requirements gathering, data validation scripting and review, development and verification of ETL/ELT pipelines, and database schema design.

What You'll Do
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure. Your responsibilities will span across multiple domains and technologies, ensuring that our data systems are reliable, scalable, and performant. Here's what you can expect to do in this role:
- Design and Build ETL/ELT Data Pipelines: Create robust, scalable data pipelines that efficiently extract, transform, and load data from various sources to our data warehouses and lakes. You'll work with modern data integration tools and ensure data quality and consistency throughout the pipeline.
- Database Architecture and Design: Design and implement database schemas, tables, views, and mappings that support our business requirements. You'll ensure optimal database performance through proper indexing, partitioning, and query optimization techniques.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Leverage AWS and S3 to build and maintain cloud-based data infrastructure. You'll work with cloud-native services to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of our data solutions.
- Batch Processing with Airflow: Build and maintain batch processing workflows using Apache Airflow to automate data processing tasks and ensure timely data availability for business users.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Studios and Project Technology teams to understand data requirements, develop data validation scripts, and review data quality. You'll serve as the subject matter expert for data engineering best practices.
- Code Development and Version Control: Write clean, maintainable code using Python and SQL. You'll use GitLab for version control and participate in code reviews and collaborative development processes.
- Environment Management: Deploy and manage data solutions across multiple environments including Development, QA/UAT, and Production. You'll ensure smooth transitions and maintain consistency across all environments.
- Documentation and Best Practices: Document pipeline architectures, data models, and technical processes. You'll also drive the adoption of best practices in data engineering software development processes.

What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need to bring a strong foundation in data engineering and a proven track record of working with complex data systems. Here's what we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience with SQL, including advanced query writing and optimization
- 2+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines
- 2+ years of experience with cloud-based technologies, preferably AWS and S3
- 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role
- 2+ years of experience managing a cloud platform
- 2+ years of experience working with data lakes, data warehouses, and application databases
- 2+ years of experience designing and building relational databases
- 2+ years of experience using GitLab/GitHub for version control
- 2+ years of experience using Docker for containerization
- Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based platforms like Snowflake or Databricks
Preferred Qualifications

- Advanced experience with Apache Airflow, GitLab, Snowflake, and Looker
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
