Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our Financial Services division on a part-time basis. In this role, you will partner closely with Business Intelligence and Product leads to drive customer growth by delivering meaningful business and audience insights through experimental design and comprehensive analyses. You'll be responsible for building robust statistical models, creating insightful dashboards, and translating complex data findings into actionable recommendations that influence product strategy and business decisions.
This position offers flexibility with remote work options and a competitive hourly rate of $25/hour. The ideal candidate will be based in or willing to work during Eastern Time hours to collaborate effectively with our Tampa-based team and stakeholders across the organization.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, your work will directly impact how millions of users interact with financial data and tools. Your responsibilities will include:
- Consumer Insights & Analysis: Analyze customer needs and identify/prioritize pain points, friction areas, and delight factors through comprehensive analysis of user behaviors, clicks, conversions, and engagement across multiple channels.
- Statistical Modeling: Build advanced predictive models to gain insights into what drives performance across key metrics including reach, retention, referrals, and revenue growth.
- Dashboard & Report Development: Create dynamic dashboards and detailed reports that provide meaningful analysis and discussion, explaining product, marketing, and business trends for executive-level reporting.
- Strategic Communication: Inform and update leadership and stakeholders on product performance, strategic initiatives, and progress toward key metrics through clear, data-driven presentations.
- Testing & Experimentation: Define data testing plans and create methodologies that enable teams to iterate quickly and release new features for testing, with successful tests rolled out to all users globally.
- Product Strategy Alignment: Focus the product roadmap on achieving the metrics that matter most and make ruthless decisions about what to pursue—and equally importantly, what not to pursue.
- Competitive Intelligence: Develop deep-dive consumer insights and competitive analysis to help teams drive product innovation and process improvements.
- Customer Understanding: Help teams understand and assimilate customer insights, preferences, and behaviors—and how these impact the product/testing roadmap to drive growth.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with Product, Design, Engineering, and Marketing teams to enable them to launch new Growth initiatives for testing and iteration.
- Impact Analysis: Provide feedback to Product and Engineering teams on the impact of product launches, including target launch metrics, A/B testing results, and post-launch performance metrics.
- Data Quality & Governance: Distill all measurements from statistically significant deviations that will impact reach, retention, referral, and/or revenue metrics.
- Data Engineering Partnership: Research data and monitor data quality—partnering closely with and providing requirements to Data Engineering teams that can be acted upon.
- Business Translation: Frame business problems into questions that can be answered through data analysis and translate business needs into technical requirements.
- Strategic Projects: Plan and lead time-sensitive strategic analysis projects including methodology development, analysis, key recommendations, and presentation of findings to Senior Management.
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need to bring a strong foundation in quantitative methods and practical experience with data-driven decision making:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a highly quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, or Data Science
- Proficiency in Python and SQL with the ability to manipulate large datasets efficiently
- Experience working in the financial sector or with financial data products
- Strong background in data analysis, generating insights for consumer-centered organizations
- Knowledge of query development and data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
- Experience with big data technologies including Hive, Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, or similar frameworks
- Machine Learning skills, including cluster analysis, neural networks, and predictive modeling
- Experience with statistical methods including correlation analysis, design of experiments, linear and nonlinear regressions, logistic regression, sampling and resampling techniques, time series, and longitudinal analysis
- Extensive experience with and passion for Mobile and/or Web products
- Demonstrated history of proactively establishing and fulfilling responsibilities
- Combination of consumer insights, competitive intelligence, and technical knowledge
- Proven use of analytics, statistics, and benchmarking to drive business decisions
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, creative, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications would make you an even stronger candidate:
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Statistics, Data Science, or related field
- Experience with financial technology products or fintech platforms
- Background in A/B testing and experimentation at scale
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Experience with business intelligence tools like Tableau, Looker, or Power BI
- Knowledge of product analytics platforms and user journey mapping
