What You'll Do
As a Senior DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at arenaflex, you'll play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining our next-generation data infrastructure. Your technical expertise will be instrumental in ensuring our systems are scalable, reliable, and performant.
- Architect and Develop: Write clean, high-performance, and well-tested foundation code with a strong focus on reusability. You'll work with technologies like Python, Terraform, and Packer to build robust infrastructure solutions.
- Technical Leadership: Act as an independent contributor and provide architectural guidance and technical mentorship to a team of 6-8 engineers, helping them grow professionally and technically.
- Problem Solving: Serve as the technical anchor for your team, tackling the most challenging issues and solving problems that others cannot. You'll be the go-to expert for complex technical dilemmas.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation that ensures knowledge transfer and supports team efficiency.
- Standards and Best Practices: Establish, maintain, and adhere to arenaflex technical standards, approaches, and procedures to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.
- System Optimization: Suggest and implement system best practices in alignment with standard Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, providing guidance on system performance and throughput expectations.
- Production Support: Support development teams in designing, scaling, and operating production data systems, including but not limited to CloudSQL, Firestore, Pub/Sub, Kafka, Dataproc, and Dataflow.
- Cloud Migration: Find exciting missions by taking existing platforms and helping migrate them to the cloud, modernizing our infrastructure for the future.
- Enablement: Leverage software development skills to enable self-service organization of distributed systems, empowering other teams to work more efficiently.
What You Bring
We're looking for candidates who have a proven track record in DevOps and cloud infrastructure roles. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a passion for solving complex problems.
Essential Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant industry experience in DevOps and/or working on cloud data systems in a senior or technical lead role.
- Agile Environment: Experience working in an Agile environment, with a solid understanding of Agile methodologies and practices.
- Cloud Architecture: Experience designing and deploying infrastructure in the cloud with a focus on durability and scalability.
- Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud databases, storage, and data services as part of an application (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- Streaming Technologies: Experience with continuous streaming tools and frameworks, such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, and Dataflow.
- Orchestration Tools: Experience with modern orchestration tools and frameworks, such as Dataflow and/or Composer.
- GCP Data Stores: Experience with GCP's data stores including Cloud SQL, Spanner, Firestore, and BigQuery.
- Distributed Processing: Experience with distributed data processing systems including Spark, Hive, and/or Presto.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code practices and tools beyond Terraform.
- Knowledge of machine learning pipelines and MLOps practices.
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Strong scripting abilities in languages like Bash, Go, or Perl.
- Understanding of data governance and security best practices.
