The Customer Service and Patient Collections Associate responds to patient inquiries and resolves billing issues while ensuring accurate and timely communication with both government and non-government payers.
Responsibilities
- Respond to a high volume of patient and guarantor inquiries related to billing issues through phone, mail, and electronic communication
- Research and resolve account issues using internal systems and external sources including insurance providers
- Collect outstanding balances and update demographic and insurance information during patient interactions
- Verify insurance eligibility using available tools, payer websites, or direct communication with third party payers
- Identify and escalate recurring billing trends and assist in developing solutions
- Process and assign referrals received through various communication channels
- Review reports related to primary care provider and self pay exceptions and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation while ensuring confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA policies
Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience
- At least one year of relevant experience in customer service, billing, or healthcare administration preferred
