Our team creates reusable technologies that power customer acquisition, seamless onboarding, and dealer enablement while ensuring exceptional experiences for both partners and customers. Our team is specifically responsible for supporting US Marketplace sellers, focusing on providing rapid solutions for the cases and tickets submitted by our seller community. We collaborate with multiple teams across the organization to deliver an outstanding merchant experience that keeps sellers thriving on our platform.

• *Position Overview**

We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Engineer to join our Data Ventures team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines that our data researchers and analysts can rely on. You'll contribute to a coordination layer of complex data transformations, refining raw data from various sources into targeted, meaningful data assets ready for consumption in a governed manner. This is a hands-on technical role where you'll work alongside data scientists, business analysts, other engineers, and key business partners to solve exciting and complex challenges that directly impact our retail operations and customer experiences.

• *What You'll Do**

As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll play a critical role in our data infrastructure. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Data Transformation and Integration

You'll extract data from identified databases and create robust data pipelines that transform information into structures relevant to specific business problems. You'll select appropriate transformation methods and develop data on current analysis trends to ensure our team stays at the forefront of data engineering best practices.

Data Source Identification

You'll support the understanding of requirement requests and service level agreements while identifying the most suitable data sources that fit the intended purpose. You'll perform initial data quality checks on extracted data to ensure accuracy and reliability before it enters our analytical pipelines.

Data Modeling

You'll analyze complex data elements, systems, data streams, relationships, and dependencies to contribute to conceptual, physical, and logical data models. You'll develop both Logical Data Models and Physical Data Models including data warehouse and data lake designs. Your responsibilities will include defining relational tables, primary and foreign keys, and stored procedures to create comprehensive data model architectures. You'll evaluate existing data models and physical databases for variances and inconsistencies, generate efficient data flows, and analyze data-related system integration challenges to propose appropriate solutions.

Code Development and Testing

You'll write code to develop required solutions and application features by determining appropriate programming languages and utilizing business, technical, and data requirements. You'll create test cases to review and validate proposed solution designs, build proofs of concept, and test code using appropriate testing approaches. You'll deploy software to production servers, contribute to code documentation, maintain playbooks, and provide timely development updates to stakeholders.

Applied Business Intelligence

You'll provide recommendations to business partners to address complex business challenges and develop business cases for projects with projected return on investment or cost savings. You'll translate business requirements into projects, activities, and tasks while adapting to overall business processes. You'll serve as the go-to person for complex needs by delivering substantial solutions and results, suggesting new processes and approaches to working more efficiently.

Data Governance

You'll establish, adjust, and report on data governance activities and recommendations. You'll implement data governance practices in coordination with business partners and colleagues, interpreting company and regulatory policies on data. You'll educate others on data governance processes, practices, methods, and rules, providing recommendations on required updates or contributions to data governance policies, practices, or rules.

Leadership and Mentorship

You'll demonstrate exceptional expertise and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others. You'll support and adjust efforts to meet client and business needs while building commitment to perspectives and reasoning. You'll build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to identify business needs and determine and implement necessary processes and practices. You'll promote and support organization policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing counsel to others, ensuring compliance. You'll ensure business needs are met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, projects, and initiatives, applying concepts for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness, and participating in and supporting community outreach events. Additionally, you'll create training documentation and train end-users on data modeling while supervising tasks of less experienced programmers and specifying system troubleshooting support.

• *What You'll Bring**

We are looking for candidates who possess the following required qualifications:

Essential Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. Alternatively, 4 years of experience in programming or a related field will be considered. A Master's degree in Computer Science is a plus.


• Technical Expertise: You must be proficient with Hadoop, Spark, Cloud platforms, Python/PySpark, and Java. Experience with streaming technologies and Kafka is essential. Backend development experience is required.


• Programming Skills: You should have a proven track record coding with at least one programming language such as Scala or Python.


• Cloud Platform Experience: You should be knowledgeable in at least one cloud computing platform such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Microsoft Azure.


• Data Modeling Proficiency: Strong skills in data modeling and data migration protocols are essential for success in this role.


• Big Data Experience: Experience building highly scalable Big Data solutions and ETL ecosystems is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud and Analytics Tools: Experience with GCP, data warehousing, and business intelligence tools is highly preferred.


• Integration Tools: Experience with integration tools like Automic and Wind River is a plus.


• Databricks: Knowledge of Databricks is an additional benefit.


• Database Experience: Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, along with RDBMS like MySQL and PostgreSQL, is a significant advantage.


• Messaging Platforms: Hands-on working experience with messaging platforms like Kafka is preferred.


• Process Improvement: Ability to increase team efficiency by fixing cycles of software development, requirement intake, and effort estimation.


• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong creative thinking and debugging skills are essential.
