Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Information Researcher - RWE to join our Scientific Solutions team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for producing Real World Evidence (RWE) through advanced research and innovative methodologies in the clinical trials space. You will be a vital part of our Analytical Projects team, working to influence decision-making both internally and externally through the use of innovative data science and technology.
This position offers the opportunity to conduct sophisticated data analysis to help address fundamental business questions and contribute to groundbreaking research that makes a real difference in patients' lives. You will report to the Chief of Clinical Data Science and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Mining and Preparation: Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data resources or licensed platforms, analyze and interpret results, and help shape analysis strategy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various members of the Clinical Trials team to deliver actionable insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests. Potential projects include analysis of unmet needs, safety and efficacy of treatments in specific disease states, treatment patterns, and healthcare economic burden, as well as cost-effectiveness modeling.
- Data Management: Clean, transform, and store data into an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team usage, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Statistical Analysis: Perform data mining and statistical analysis to analyze RWE/Real World Data (RWD) to discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes.
- Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities, applying advanced analytics and tools to address scientific inquiries from biopharmaceutical companies.
- Research Collaboration: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies, ensuring methodological rigor and scientific validity.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations, maintaining the highest standards of analytical excellence.
- Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for both internal and external use, effectively communicating complex findings to diverse stakeholders.
- Vendor Assessment: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors, and drive RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Statistical Expertise: Experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data. You should be proficient in common statistical testing techniques including generalized linear models, clustering and classification, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis.
- Data Handling Experience: Proven experience processing large data from diverse data sources, with the ability to manage and manipulate complex datasets effectively.
- Healthcare Data Experience: Experience handling protected patient health information with the utmost care and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Business Intelligence Tools: Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI visualization tools.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as statistics, biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
We would love to consider candidates with:
- Advanced Degree: PhD or Master's degree in statistics/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Healthcare Data Expertise: Proficiency in EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases.
- Clinical Data Standards: Knowledge of clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD-9/10/ReadCode).
- Regulatory Experience: Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR).
- Innovative Data Sources: Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, especially those enabled by technology platforms and/or solutions.
- Advanced Statistical Methods: Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, and computational statistics.
- Machine Learning: Understanding of statistics and machine learning methods, with the ability to pursue self-learning of both technical and non-technical skills.
