Position Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Modeler to join our Design and Enablement Services organization. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing and maintaining project-level data artifacts across our global operations portfolio. You will work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and other architects to create and evaluate data models, data management strategies, and comprehensive data architecture solutions.

As an Enterprise Data Modeler at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in defining long-term data engineering and strategy across our worldwide transportation and logistics portfolio. Your daily activities will include engaging with business and IT teams to assess impacts, decompose key initiatives, and analyze architectural decisions and trade-offs. You will collaborate closely with other architects to define applied architectural guidance, including refinement of data concepts and logical data models, for program delivery and product development teams solving complex problems with high system interdependency.

This is a leadership position in data architecture where you will establish best practices for cross-functional, multi-platform systems and work alongside other senior architects to drive innovation and excellence in our data management practices.

Key Responsibilities

As an Enterprise Data Modeler at arenaflex, you will be responsible for ensuring that overall data management concerns are addressed in our solutions. This includes data acquisition, data organization, data governance, data quality, data distribution, data storage and retention, data security, data integration, reference and master data management, analytics, and metadata management.

Align information and data models to enterprise, program, and technical architectures at the portfolio and program train levels

Lead identification of reusable data services to accelerate delivery of value and eliminate data replication

Collaborate with database administrators and program engineers to provide guidance on logical designs and transitions to implemented data structures

Provide applied and detailed design of data structures for data at rest (databases) and data in motion (API interfaces, emails)

Establish and accurately document data lineage regarding program architecture, data analysis, and our three-tier architecture (External Edge, Internal Edge, and Solid Core)

Collaborate with data analytics organizations and business areas to leverage data lakes to derive insights into operational efficiencies

Define architectural patterns and platform guidelines to ingest and operationalize data analytical capabilities

Collaborate with physical design database administrators to implement and enforce platform guidelines

Support affected application developers and integrated release trains during implementation

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

Bachelor's degree in software engineering, engineering, data systems, or equivalent formal training or work experience

Five (5) years of comparable work experience in information technology or engineering environment

A related postgraduate degree may offset the related experience requirement

Preferred Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in data modeling and architecture. The following skills and experiences are considered a significant plus:

Experience across all phases of data modeling, from conceptualization to database optimization

In-depth knowledge of data integration concepts, approaches, and tools to implement data integration strategies successfully

Data virtualization, analytics, and integration techniques

Applied data modeling techniques

Data performance optimization and modeling

Experience implementing architectural principles and design patterns

Knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA), microservices, and data services

Experience with business and enterprise architecture frameworks such as BIZBOK and TOGAF

Experience with end-to-end program architecture for data capabilities

Familiar understanding of best practices for supporting data lakes, shared catalogs, and analytical structures

Experience in real-time and batch data ingestion

Proven ability to work in large-scale environments including RDBMS, EDW, NoSQL, and similar technologies

Working knowledge of data modeling tools (preferably Sparx, ERwin/Studio)

Hands-on experience with multiple data technologies including Oracle, DataStax/Cassandra, Redis, Kafka (minimum 3 years)
