• *Job Summary**

We are seeking an experienced data scientist to lead our data analytics and reporting efforts. As a Principal Engineer – Data Analytics & Data Science, you will be responsible for developing and implementing data-driven solutions that drive business growth and inform strategic decision-making. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement data models, develop reporting dashboards, and analyze large datasets to identify trends and insights.

• *Key Responsibilities**

• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, providing technical guidance and sharing best practices to foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
• Develop and maintain current software practices through code reviews and design sessions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data models, develop reporting dashboards, and analyze large datasets to identify trends and insights.
• Grow "top-tier" data science capabilities for our services by ensuring that services and components are distinct, modularized, secure, reliable, diagnosable, easily testable, and reusable.
• Develop and implement test coverage for services; organize and execute integration tests; and resolve trouble spots.
• Ensure testability, compactness/checking, reliability, and practicality; and understand when code is fit to be shared and deployed.
• Focus on business needs through an data-driven approach.
• Investigate and advance automation, reliability, and testing for deployed items.
• Set the essential vision for data analytics and reporting, aligning with organizational objectives. Provide leadership in directing the overall direction of data analytics technical drives.
• Plan, develop, and enhance complex data models and reporting structures.
• Drive the design and execution of adaptable and efficient data analytics and reporting designs.
• Ensure the integrity, security, and performance of data products and reporting solutions by collaborating with stages, data design, and service groups.
• Define and execute the long-term technical strategy for data analytics, incorporating developments and industry trends.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and evaluate their relevance to the organization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data researchers, business analysts, data engineers, platform specialists, and IT experts, to develop comprehensive data solutions.
• Foster a collaborative environment that encourages information sharing and expertise development. Lead technical authority discussions, lunch and learn sessions, and other activities to engage the design community within the organization.
• Establish and implement data quality guidelines and best practices. Execute processes for data approval, cleansing, and precision.
• Assess and select suitable data analytics and reporting tools to address business needs. Lead requirement meetings and collaborate closely with stages and infrastructure groups during the assessment and execution of these tools.
• Collaborate with design and development teams to create and maintain documentation for data analytics processes, reporting designs, and data models.
• Monitor the performance of data analytics and reporting systems; and provide technical leadership to drive reliability and flexibility of data products and reporting solutions.
• Execute measures to improve performance and investigate issues.
• Provide critical insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making at the organizational level.
• Recommend system upgrades to support business growth and advancing technology needs.
• Utilize arenaflex services, such as arenaflex SQL DW (Neurotransmitter), ADLS, arenaflex Event Hub, Universe, Databricks, Delta-Lake to improve and accelerate delivery of our data products and services.
• Execute large data and NoSQL solutions by creating flexible data handling stages to drive high-value insights to the organization.

• *Requirements**

• Demonstrated experience with at least 15+ years of active involvement in data analytics and reporting roles.
• 5+ years' experience in leadership or senior roles; demonstrating the ability to successfully guide and lead a team.
• 5+ years' experience working with cloud technologies, such as ADLS, arenaflex Databricks, Azure, arenaflex Neurotransmitter, Universe DB, DBT, and other big data advancements.
• Exhibited advanced capability in data analytics tools, languages, ML, and frameworks (e.g., Conos, PowerBI, SQL, Python, R).
• Capability in data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI or similar tools to effectively communicate insights.
• Demonstrated ability in working with cloud platforms, such as AWS, arenaflex or Google Cloud, to design and implement adaptable and efficient data analytics solutions.
• In-depth understanding and practical application of Lakehouse engineering standards, combining the best of data lakes and data warehouses for robust and flexible data management.
• High-level SQL skills. Strong understanding of social datasets and business data capacity to write complex SQL queries against various data sources.
• Experience managing high-volume and high-speed data streams, and designing systems that can handle the demands of real-time or near-real-time analysis.
• Experience in shaping the essential vision for data analytics and reporting drives within an organization.
• Effective management of data analytics projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.
• Exhibited ability to drive innovation, adapt to emerging technologies, and implement industry best practices.
• Shown ability to take ownership and responsibility of critical issues and resolve them to closure.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• *Preferred Qualifications**

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Science or related technical discipline.
• Important industry certifications are a plus.
• Experience in retail, manufacturing, e-commerce, or supply chain.
