The Opportunity: Payments Chief – North LATAM
We are currently seeking a strategic and experienced Payments Chief to lead our payment innovation and partnership efforts in the North LATAM region, specifically covering Mexico, Colombia, and Peru. This is a unique opportunity to build on top of one of the largest subscription services in the world and help us achieve an even greater level of business performance while evolving our payment capabilities.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of shaping how millions of customers in thesekey markets interact with our platform. You will work with a cross-functional team including Business Development, Product, Legal, Analytics, and Data Science professionals to drive payment excellence. Additionally, you will manage external relationships with financial institutions, card schemes, and fintech partners to ensure high-quality payment performance and innovation.
This position reports directly to the Director of Payments, Americas, and offers tremendous visibility across the organization. You will frequently represent the payments team in executive discussions and debates, making this an ideal role for someone who wants to have a significant impact on the company's growth trajectory.
Key Responsibilities
As our Payments Chief for North LATAM, you will be responsible for driving payment strategy and execution across Mexico, Colombia, and Peru. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Payment Infrastructure Optimization: Leverage our existing payment infrastructure to improve the performance of current payment methods while evaluating new payment techniques that demonstrate incremental value and cost-effectiveness.
- Innovation Leadership: Identify and pursue innovation opportunities within the payments domain by understanding customer needs, monitoring relevant regulatory developments, and staying ahead of technological advancements that could impact our payment strategy in both the short and long term.
- Partner Relationship Management: Work alongside our Partnerships Team to manage and cultivate relationships with financial institutions, card schemes, and fintech companies to drive high-quality payment performance and innovation.
- Performance Analytics: Own key payment metrics for your markets and derive actionable insights to improve customer experience, enhance payment performance, and ensure efficient payment systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner functionally across the organization including Product, Engineering, Customer Support, Legal, Marketing, and Finance to execute payment optimization and market expansion initiatives.
- Product Launch Execution: Lead the launch of new payment capabilities and products that will drive growth in our business across the LATAM region.
- Strategic Planning: Translate abstract thoughts and data into concrete short-term and long-term strategic initiatives that support arenaflex's growth objectives.
Required Qualifications & Skills
To be successful in this role, you should bring a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and relationship management skills:
- Industry Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience managing large CNP (Card Not Present) / recurring payments, either from a service provider, corporate, or acquirer perspective.
- Regional Expertise: Deep understanding of payment technology relevant to Mexico, Colombia, and Peru markets, including local regulations, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape.
- Analytical Capabilities: Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and identify optimization opportunities.
- Negotiation Skills: Extensive experience partnering and negotiating with payment partners, including managing complex commercial agreements.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Judgment & Integrity: Impeccable judgment and integrity, with the ability to make key decisions quickly and autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
- Industry Network: Current network of relationships across the LATAM payments ecosystem, including contacts at financial institutions, payment processors, and fintech companies.
- Multitasking Ability: Ability to juggle multiple critical tasks concurrently while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel as needed across LATAM and the U.S.
