Position Overview

As a Registered Nurse at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in our critical care units. You will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications safely, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities


  • Patient Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough nursing history assessments and physical examinations accurately within expected time frames. Utilize clinical judgment to evaluate patient conditions and identify changes that require intervention.
  • Age-Appropriate Care Delivery: Determine and implement care strategies that are appropriate for patients across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric populations. Tailor communication and interventions to meet the unique needs of each age group.
  • Care Planning and Implementation: Develop, prioritize, and update individualized plans of care based on patient assessment data, clinical conditions, and evidence-based practices. Incorporate discharge planning needs early in the care continuum.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate and collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, therapists, and other healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient care.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications safely using the "five rights" of medication administration. Ensure accurate dosing based on patient age, weight, clinical condition, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Clinical Skills Proficiency: Perform all skills and tasks required by the unit, including but not limited to IV therapy, wound care, respiratory interventions, and advanced monitoring techniques.
  • Patient and Family Education: Include patients, caregivers, and family members in care discussions, counseling, and health teaching. Provide clear instructions on medication management, self-care, and follow-up care.
  • Equipment Management: Demonstrate correct use and troubleshooting of medical equipment, including infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, ventilators, and other unit-specific devices.
  • Care Evaluation and Modification: Continuously evaluate the efficacy of the plan of care and modify interventions based on patient's current condition, response to treatment, and evolving clinical needs.
  • Supervision and Leadership: Supervise staff members who provide direct patient care, including licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and other support personnel. Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship as needed.
  • Documentation: Document all interventions, assessments, and patient responses accurately, pertinent to the situation, timely, and legibly in the electronic health record.
  • Safety Assurance: Provide a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by following infection control protocols, fall prevention strategies, and safety guidelines.
  • Charge Nurse Responsibilities: Assume charge nurse responsibilities for the unit as needed, demonstrating leadership in patient care coordination, staff supervision, and unit operations.
  • Professional Accountability: Be responsible and accountable for all actions taken in the course of nursing practice. Practice within the scope of the nursing license and adhere to all regulatory standards.

Essential Qualifications

Education Requirements


  • Graduate of an Approved School of Nursing (ADN or BSN preferred)

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kentucky or a compact state

Required Certifications


  • BLS Certification: American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider) – must be current at time of hire and maintained throughout employment

  • ACLS Certification: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support – must be current at time of hire and maintained throughout employment

Clinical Experience


  • Background in critical care nursing preferred

  • Previous experience in acute care settings is highly desirable

  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, high-acuity environments
