Position Overview

We are currently seeking a qualified English Language Arts Tutor to work with high school and middle school students in the Chattanooga area. This is a part-time position that offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' academic success. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of language arts education, including reading, writing, composition, and comprehension strategies, along with the ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles.

As an arenaflex tutor, you will be responsible for providing personalized instruction that addresses each student's unique academic needs. Whether your students require support with essay writing, literary analysis, reading fluency, grammar fundamentals, or preparation for important exams, you will be equipped with the resources and support system necessary to help them succeed.

Key Responsibilities

As a valued member of the arenaflex tutoring team, you will be expected to:

Deliver personalized instruction: Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions focused on English Language Arts, including reading, writing, grammar, and literature comprehension tailored to each student's learning style and academic goals.

Create comprehensive lesson plans: Prepare appropriately for each tutoring session by developing detailed lesson plans that align with students' curriculum requirements and address specific areas needing improvement.

Document student progress: Provide session reports for our office and families within twenty-four hours of each tutoring session, ensuring transparent communication about student advancement and challenges.

Balance workload effectively: Manage tutoring hours efficiently across all assigned students while maintaining the highest quality of instruction.

Adapt to diverse learning needs: Successfully and professionally teach students with varying learning styles, abilities, and educational backgrounds.

Address client concerns: Service existing clients' concerns, questions, and requests promptly and professionally, maintaining strong relationships with families.

Monitor student enrollment: Follow up with the office when a student's enrollment package is low on hours to ensure continuity of educational support.

Maintain accurate records: Utilize basic database and data entry skills to track student progress, session notes, and administrative documentation.

Demonstrate reliability: Maintain reliable transportation with current car insurance to conduct in-home tutoring sessions throughout the Chattanooga metropolitan area.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in the education field is preferred

Minimum of 2 years of experience in tutoring or teaching in specialized education fields is preferred

Strong knowledge of English Language Arts curriculum and teaching methodologies

Experience with basic database and data entry procedures

Ability to prepare comprehensive lesson plans for each tutoring session

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with students of all ages and backgrounds

Strong organizational and administrative capabilities

Proficient typing skills and solid PC operation abilities

Access to reliable transportation with current automobile insurance

Access to high-speed internet, a computer, and a smartphone for communication and documentation purposes

While credentialed tutors and those with graduate degrees are preferred, they are not requirements. We value practical experience, passion for education, and the ability to inspire students just as much as formal credentials.

Teaching certification or education degree

Graduate-level education or advanced degrees in English, Education, or related fields
