Position Overview: Ramp Agent
We are currently seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our ground operations team as Ramp Agents at our California locations. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating aircraft movements on the ground, handling cargo and baggage, and ensuring our operations run seamlessly. This is a part-time position offering competitive compensation at $20 per hour, with flexible hours that can accommodate a variety of schedules.
Key Responsibilities
As a Ramp Agent at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with a variety of essential duties that keep our operations moving forward. Your responsibilities will include:
- Customer Support: Provide friendly, professional assistance to all internal and external customers, maintaining positive relationships and ensuring a seamless experience for everyone we serve.
- Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with other Ground Operations teams to ensure the success of our organization and meet flight departure schedules.
- Aircraft Servicing: Load, unload, service, guide, and direct aircraft on the tarmac, ensuring all ground handling activities are completed efficiently and safely.
- Baggage and Cargo Handling: Receive and record customer baggage, air cargo, mail, and company materials as required. Handle all aspects of loading, stowing, and unloading items with precision and care.
- Documentation: Complete all required forms and paperwork associated with job responsibilities according to established procedures. Enter information into the organization's data systems accurately and timely.
- Freight Management: Receive, deliver, and transport freight and baggage to and from aircraft. Maintain and organize records related to these duties.
- Inventory Control: Warehouse, weigh, stack, receive, and deliver air freight. Check air freight against accompanying documentation to identify any misuse or discrepancies and correct routine errors.
- Cargo Protection: Protect customers' baggage, air freight, air mail, and company materials from weather, loss, theft, damage, or destruction.
- Jetway Operations: Use jetway stairs regularly to convey items checked at the gate to the aircraft cargo hold.
- Aircraft Cleaning: Perform interior cabin cleaning manually, including vacuuming upholstery, cleaning windows, galleys, and disposal containers according to appropriate documentation.
- Sanitation Services: Clean and service lavatories, operate lavatory trucks, and dispose of contents according to established procedures.
- Provisioning Support: May perform duties of a Provisioning Specialist, including loading aircraft cabin interiors for flights with equipment and supplies such as literature, disposal and refuse containers, and grocery items according to relevant documentation. Maintain inventory of such items and supplies.
- Equipment Transport: Transport cabin and cleaning equipment between aircraft storage areas.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and/or drive automated equipment such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push back pulls, baggage trucks, lavatory trucks, and de-icers.
- Physical Movement: Physically move around push carts and containers. Work in and between passenger terminals, hangars, and airfreight facilities, both indoors and outdoors.
- Environmental Awareness: May be exposed to a wide variety of weather conditions, jet and equipment noises, exhaust, dirt, and dust for extended periods.
- Communication: Be aware of moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment. Communicate information and instructions verbally and/or through radio equipment.
- Additional Duties: May perform other job-related responsibilities as directed by supervisors. Responsibilities may vary by station size and organization.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed as a Ramp Agent at arenaflex, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Background: Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- Physical Capability: Must be able to meet any physical capacity requirements outlined in the job description, including standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and working in various weather conditions.
- Training Completion: Ability to successfully complete the Ramp Agent training program with a 90% or greater average, including a satisfactory evaluation period.
- Communication Skills: Must be able to understand reports, follow instructions, and learn and understand ramp operations procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Safety Awareness: Must be aware of hazardous situations and be able to handle emergencies as needed.
- Time Management: Must work under tight time constraints to achieve rapid aircraft turns.
- Regulatory Compliance: Must satisfy all training requirements as outlined in the Ground Operations Employee Handbook and the Work Agreement.
Preferred Qualifications
While the following qualifications are not required, they will be considered a plus:
- Previous experience in ground operations, aviation, or logistics
- Forklift certification or experience operating heavy machinery
- Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in aviation
- Ability to speak multiple languages (particularly Spanish)
