Position Overview


We are looking for a passionate and reliable Pharmacy Customer Service Associate to provide exceptional service to our customers while supporting our pharmacy operations. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for customers visiting our pharmacy, ensuring a positive and memorable experience every time. You will be responsible for registering transactions, assisting customers with their healthcare needs, and supporting our pharmacists in delivering safe and efficient pharmaceutical services.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience Excellence



  • Greet and engage customers and patients with warmth and professionalism, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the moment they enter the store.

  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly and effectively, ensuring a positive customer experience that aligns with arenaflex's service standards.

  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, including friendly eye contact, courteous language, and a positive attitude at all times.

  • Offer proactive assistance by identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate products and services to enhance their shopping experience.

  • Suggest complementary items and upsell products when appropriate to drive sales and customer satisfaction.

Point of Sale Operations



  • Operate the assigned sales register accurately and efficiently, processing customer purchases with speed and precision.

  • Collect payments from customers, handle cash transactions, and provide correct change as needed.

  • Process voids, returns, delays, refunds, and exchanges in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Guide customers to the appropriate aisles, particularly the over-the-counter (OTC) walkway, to assist them in finding the products they need.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization at the checkout counter and throughout the retail area, ensuring a tidy and well-presented environment.

Pharmacy Support



  • Assist the pharmacist in pharmacy operations, following state and federal guidelines for safe and compliant prescription handling.

  • Utilize pharmacy systems to accurately enter patient and medication information, ensuring all data is captured correctly.

  • Process prescriptions by retrieving, counting, pouring, and verifying medication to ensure accuracy and safety.

  • Check for potential drug interactions and alert the on-duty pharmacist to any concerns.

  • Maintain workflow in the pharmacy by supporting scheduling and task organization as directed by the Pharmacy Director or Staff Pharmacist.

  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to arenaflex's policies regarding error reporting and quality improvement programs.

  • Handle phone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians' offices.

  • Process manual claims for third-party prescription programs efficiently and accurately, along with other administrative duties as assigned.

Inventory Management



  • Support pharmacy division inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of medications.

  • Maintain knowledge of company asset security procedures and report any warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods, including prescription medications.

  • Monitor and restock shelves, ensuring products are properly rotated using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method.

  • Complete inventory counts and pricing as required or as directed by the senior manager or shift leader.

  • Build and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, super bowl, and sale stock displays. Complete resets and corrections as directed.

Compliance and Regulatory Adherence



  • Ensure strict compliance with state and local laws regarding controlled substances, including alcohol and tobacco products.

  • Adhere to arenaflex's Good Faith Dispensing policy during all prescription dispensing activities.

  • Follow all company policies and procedures, maintaining respectful and professional relationships with team members.

Additional Store Support



  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services, banner printing, creative machine operations, and special photo product sales.

  • Handle web order fulfillment duties, including monitoring orders in Picture Care Plus, picking items, and delivering orders to customers as they arrive at the store.

  • Assist with internal and external maintenance to ensure a clean, tidy, and well-presented store environment and appearance.

  • Complete special projects and other tasks as assigned by management.

Training and Self-Development



  • Obtain and maintain PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state-required certification/registration.

  • Attend training sessions and complete required PPLs (Personal Performance Learners) as directed by supervisors or corporate, ensuring continuing education credits are earned.

  • Stay current on healthcare and pharmacy knowledge, including the latest news, advancements, and industry developments.

Essential Qualifications



  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.

  • Language Skills: Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).

  • Availability: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact positively with customers and team members.

  • Customer Service Orientation: Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service with a friendly and approachable demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Six months or more of experience in a retail environment is highly desirable.

  • Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare-related setting is a plus.

  • Strong mathematical skills to accurately count, measure, and weigh medications.

  • Proficiency in computer operations and familiarity with point-of-sale systems.

  • Knowledge of store inventory control procedures and best practices.

  • PTCB certification is preferred but not required for consideration.
