What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities
As a Ramp Agent at arenaflex, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient handling of luggage, mail, and cargo. Your daily tasks will include:
- Loading and Unloading Aircraft: Safely lift, load, dump, and transport luggage, mail, and freight to and from aircraft. You'll be responsible for ensuring that all items are handled with care and delivered to the correct destinations.
- Ground Equipment Operation: Operate specialized ground equipment including belt loaders, tow tractors, and other vehicles in high-traffic areas. Proper training will be provided, and safety is always our top priority.
- Aircraft Movement: Assist with guiding incoming and outgoing aircraft to and from gate positions, ensuring safe and timely connections for passengers.
- Cargo Protection: Protect freight, luggage, and mail from damage, loss, and weather exposure. You'll use scanning equipment and computer systems to ensure items are routed correctly to their intended destinations.
- Safety Compliance: Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures. This includes wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hearing protection, safety-toe footwear, protective headwear, and high-visibility safety clothing.
Important Physical Requirements: This position is physically demanding and requires frequent bending, lifting, standing, and walking throughout your shift. You will be lifting and loading bags weighing between 50-70 pounds regularly. Work is performed in various weather conditions including heat, rain, and snow. The ability to perform these physical tasks is essential for success in this role.
Work Schedule and Location
We offer flexible scheduling based on operational needs. Shifts vary and may include early morning, daytime, or evening hours depending on the flight schedule at our Grand Rapids station. As a full-time team member, you will work approximately 20-40 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours during peak travel periods. This position is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and requires on-site presence at the airport facility.
What We're Looking For: Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Requirements:
- A valid driver's license is required for this position.
- Proficiency in English (both written and verbal communication).
- Must be able to pass background checks and security clearances as required by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
- Must be willing to wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hearing protection, safety-toe footwear, protective headwear (bump cap or hard hat), and high-visibility safety clothing.
- Ability to consistently prioritize safety and security for yourself, others, and company property.

- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
