About the Role
As a Remote Media Operations Specialist at arenaflex, you'll be responsible for the technical backbone of our content delivery infrastructure. This role is essential to ensuring that our programming – from live sporting events to on-demand streaming content – reaches viewers in pristine quality, on time, and across all platforms. You'll work closely with production teams, technology departments, and content operations specialists to maintain the high standards that have made arenaflex a leader in the media industry.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in broadcast operations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge broadcast technology and to be part of a team that's shaping the future of how content is created, managed, and delivered to global audiences.
Key Responsibilities
As a valued member of our media operations team, you will be tasked with a wide range of responsibilities that keep our content flowing smoothly. Your daily duties will include:
- Content Management and Distribution: Organize and distribute all server-based content used for recording and playback across multiple platforms. You'll ensure that media assets are properly indexed, archived, and readily accessible for production teams.
- Quality Control: Verify and approve video and audio quality during live and recorded programming. You'll establish standards for incoming feeds, perform clipping and editing tasks for production and programming needs, and ensure all content meets arenaflex's rigorous broadcast standards.
- Technical Equipment Operation: Demonstrate proficiency in operating all broadcast equipment and technology within your assigned areas, including standard and high-definition operations, content management systems, direct and non-linear edit systems, encoding systems, server-based recording/playback devices, server networking, cassette players, content redundancy operations, broadcast switches, radios, and network content organization.
- Live Production Support: Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment supporting live and pre-recorded content across all arenaflex direct and digital platforms. This includes handling multiple concurrent projects and meeting tight deadlines.
- Media Processing: Perform recording, editing, playback, transcoding, indexing, and filing of various media formats and server-based materials. You'll ensure all content meets arenaflex's exacting standards for video and audio quality.
- Non-Linear Editing: Exhibit fundamental knowledge of editing techniques on non-linear systems and be comfortable working with advanced editing software and workflows.
- Information Distribution: Understand complex information and disseminate it to appropriate personnel in a clear and timely manner, acting as a crucial communication link between technical teams and production staff.
- Signal Measurement: Measure sound and video signals to ensure quality control of arenaflex broadcast standards on all operations, utilizing extensive knowledge of broadcast techniques.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Seek information regarding the workflow of other specialty units, including their impact and specific integration with Media Operations. Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments.
- Documentation and Troubleshooting: Investigate and properly document any necessary troubleshooting and/or resolution of technical issues that arise during operations.
- Training and Development: Participate in training programs (in-person, classroom, virtual, etc.) for professional development as well as regarding any relevant equipment and workflow changes within the operation. May also participate in training others in operational areas and producing training documentation.
- Technology Integration: Understand closed captioning systems and related workflows. Work collaboratively with Technology teams to improve existing applications and processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Provide critical thinking for daily operations and acquire advanced skills in multiple operational areas to best facilitate the integration of operations.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need to meet the following requirements:
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of practical television production experience at the major market or network level. This background will provide you with the foundational knowledge needed to excel in our fast-paced media environment.
- Availability: The ability to work late shifts, weekends, and holidays. Our content never sleeps, and neither do our operations teams during peak programming periods.
- Flexibility: Must be flexible to adapt shifts/days off and stay longer than required to accommodate projects and departmental objectives. This role requires a team player who can pivot when critical needs arise.
- Time Management: Must demonstrate the ability to perform tasks under close deadlines, work independently, and handle multiple simultaneous projects effectively.
- Team Dynamics: Ability to function as part of a collaborative team dynamic, contributing positively to group goals and supporting colleagues across departments.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. You'll be conveying complex technical information to diverse stakeholders.
- Organizational Abilities: Strong organizational, planning, and efficiency skills are expected. The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail is crucial.
- Adaptability: Must be willing and able to adapt to a constantly changing environment. The media industry evolves rapidly, and we need team members who embrace change and new challenges.
- Technical Infrastructure: Candidates should have a good computer setup (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and strong technical skills. A reliable home office setup with stable internet connectivity is essential for remote work success.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
