Position Overview
The Pharmacist Centralized Services Specialist is responsible for executing medical services methodologies and driving patient wellbeing results. This role involves implementing patient intervention pharmacy programs, ensuring compliance with clinical pharmacy services, and driving pharmacy financial performance by executing on pharmacy projects to maximize reimbursements while improving patient health outcomes.
Working from a remote setting, you will be responsible for prescription processing, cultivating strong relationships with clinical communities in assigned areas, and serving as a representative and contact of the organization. You will act as a knowledgeable resource and expert for other pharmacy specialists and field leaders while maintaining current knowledge of the pharmacy industry and required licensure.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care Programs: Execute direct patient care programs, including but not limited to Drug Therapy Management programs, Vaccination Services, and Payer and Pharma Adherence and Clinical Projects. These initiatives are designed to improve patient outcomes and ensure comprehensive medication management.
- Policy Implementation: Drive the execution of various policies and operations to ensure business needs are being met while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and regulatory compliance.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Lead compliance and continuous quality improvement in the delivery of clinical pharmacy patient care and services by researching, evaluating, and redesigning processes; monitoring and analyzing results; and implementing necessary changes. Ensure area Pharmacies comply with regulatory compliance, standard operating procedures, and FDA guidelines.
- Financial Performance: Drive local pharmacy financial performance by aligning business strategies with company financial goals. Implement and execute patient intervention pharmacy programs to maximize financial performance while prioritizing patient wellbeing.
- Patient Experience Enhancement: Support efforts on improving patient experience by increasing focus on healthcare services such as patient consultation, medication management, drug therapy reviews, and retail, clinical, or wellness services including vaccinations, illness state management, and Specialty programs.
- Team Support and Development: Provide expertise, resources, education, and support to pharmacy specialists and field leadership. Support staff training experiences and advancement opportunities while promoting collaboration and inspiring pharmacy staff by fostering a shared vision and supporting company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
- Clinical Reviews: Conduct data and clinical reviews and take necessary actions to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of medications. Review drug histories and patient profiles to ensure appropriate and safe medication therapy while providing individualized patient/provider consultation.
- Patient Communication: Through use of superior interpersonal skills, earn the trust of patients by listening to their concerns and providing a sounding board for pharmacy concerns. Demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism in every patient interaction.
- Client Retention Program: Provide feedback regarding the effectiveness of the Client Retention Program including comments from patients as the value of individual consultations. Use this feedback to continuously improve service quality.
- Clinical Consultation: Be responsible for all inquiries, discussions, and advice which relate directly to patient treatment. Provide clinical advice and information to patients, physicians, and insurance plans as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations. Maintain current knowledge of industry developments and changes in pharmacy practice standards.
- General Responsibilities: Perform other work consistent with the job duties in this record as assigned by management. Observe guidelines and procedures for all job responsibilities to meet goals while complying with company policies and procedures including all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
Essential Qualifications
- Licensure: Current Pharmacist license as granted by the appropriate state licensing authority. Must maintain active licensure throughout employment.
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy or related field required. PharmD preferred but not required.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Experience inspiring colleagues to research and resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
- Confidentiality: Experience working with sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Flexibility: Able to work non-standard hours, which may include nights, holidays and/or weekends as required by business needs.
- Time Management: Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of various projects with varying completion dates.
- Autonomy: Experience developing approaches to achieving goals with minimal supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary.
- Customer Service: Experience providing customer service to internal and external clients, including meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Travel: Able to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Willingness to obtain additional state pharmacy licenses if necessary to serve patients across multiple regions.
- Knowledge of insurance plans and billing procedures including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance frameworks.
- Knowledge of computer operating systems including RAD, COMMIT, and Plus pharmacy management systems.
- Microsoft Excel: Basic level proficiency (for example: opening a workbook, inserting a line, selecting font and size, formatting cells as currency, using copy, paste and save functions, adjusting text, selecting cells, renaming a worksheet, inserting a column, selecting a chart style, inserting a worksheet, setting margins, selecting page orientation, using spell check and/or printing worksheets).
- Microsoft PowerPoint: Basic level proficiency (for example: embedding, modifying, hiding and deleting slides, navigating between slides, expanding list level, adding, centering and editing text, changing views, inserting a table or a note, moving objects, printing frame view and/or running a slide show).
- Microsoft Word: Basic level proficiency (for example: opening a document, cutting, pasting and adjusting text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and paragraph width, formatting, inserting shots, pictures and dates, using find and replace, repair, spell check, track changes, review sheet and/or print capabilities).
