What You'll Do: Senior Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Specialist

As a Senior Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Specialist within our Engineering Group, you'll serve as a technical authority and problem-solver for aircraft and related equipment maintenance and operations. Your expertise will be instrumental in establishing and maintaining aircraft and component standards that ensure the highest levels of safety and reliability.

Your Key Responsibilities Include:


  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Conduct specialized training for Engineers in your area(s) of expertise. Serve as a mentor to other Engineers, sharing knowledge and fostering professional development across the team. Lead project management initiatives and facilitate issue resolution with precision and expertise.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Standards: Collaborate with manufacturers and regulatory authorities to ensure that Engineering practices are properly validated according to material regulations and Company manuals. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of current and upcoming regulations affecting your areas of responsibility, ensuring all Engineering activities maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Procedure Development: Develop customized methods and unique guidelines for repairs, modifications, inspections, adjustments, and other maintenance activities that are not adequately addressed in existing manuals. Create Engineering documents to implement technical practices by providing tailored procedures for repairs, changes, or other maintenance activities that provide benefits according to departmental targets and management mandates.
  • Operational Support: Stay informed about daily carrier operations within your field of responsibility. Review daily needs according to aircraft and departmental objectives and management mandates. Analyze aircraft and component issues that may cause flight delays or cancellations, significant expenditures in labor or materials, or breaks in maintenance activities, determining appropriate corrective actions.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide Engineering support as needed for the disposition of discrepant situations affecting aircraft or parts to restore operational status. Respond to requests from Maintenance and other carrier departments when technical support is needed to assist operations or resolve issues.
  • Project Coordination: Develop operation plans for fleet or multi-fleet and component Engineering tasks and pursue detailed dispositions according to estimated needs. Coordinate with other carrier divisions, as needed, to accommodate effective and efficient execution of Engineering practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize available resources to increase levels of technical expertise and practical experience continuously. Endeavor to improve communication skills, time management, and other personal characteristics relevant to maximum effectiveness and efficiency in performing assigned duties. Actively engage with frontline team members and management alike.

What You'll Bring: Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related Engineering field
  • One year of Engineering experience in a related field, or two years of experience without a degree
  • Must be willing to work in Charlotte, USA

Required Skills, Licenses & Certifications:



  • A&P License (Airframe and Powerplant): This is essential for demonstrating your technical knowledge of aircraft systems and maintenance procedures

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other productivity tools for documentation, analysis, and communication

  • Analytical Capabilities: Ability to analyze technical data and make information-driven decisions that impact safety and operational efficiency

  • Adaptability: Demonstrated aptitude, ability, and willingness to take on new roles and responsibilities as the role evolves

  • Communication Skills: Ability to prepare and deliver presentations that advance recognition and acceptance of solutions

  • Client Focus: Capacity to connect with internal and external clients effectively, building strong working relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience with multiple aircraft types and fleet management
  • Previous experience in a unionized maintenance environment
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations and industry best practices
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification
