About the Role

As a Senior Data Researcher at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in driving the creation, implementation, and support of data analysis and machine learning (ML) models that power our attractions and visitor experience platforms. You will work closely with internal partners across multiple departments to deliver elite visitor experiences through intelligent and data-driven systems within our Experiences division.

You will report to our Attractions Operational Technology team and collaborate with cross-functional experts to scale ML solutions that create extraordinary experiences for our visitors while pushing the boundaries of operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead ML Initiatives: Drive the development and execution of machine learning strategies, identifying areas where complex business problems can be solved creatively through innovative ML applications.


• Collaborate with Research Teams: Engage with research scientists and engineering teams to advance ML methodologies and ensure successful deployment of models at scale.


• Team Leadership: Lead and work alongside other data scientists and ML engineers to implement and effectively scale ML solutions that create magical experiences for visitors.


• Innovation & R&D: Drive research and development efforts, including proofs of concept, technology innovation initiatives, and client interactions that lead to building world-class AI platforms.


• Operational Support: Manage functional support and maintenance of ML-related products and services delivered by the team, ensuring reliability and performance.


• Process Development: Build standard procedures used in daily operations and work with specialized units to design, plan, and execute large-scale projects in the AI/ML space.


• Model Productionization: Productionize ML algorithms in predictive analytics, clustering, image recognition, NLP, anomaly detection, and more, evaluating their performance on real-world datasets.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with different teams to achieve goals in improving system performance and delivering exceptional results.


• Code Excellence: Coordinate with existing software development practices that produce maintainable code, including automated testing, continuous integration, code style consistency, and comprehensive code reviews.


• Relationship Building: Foster and develop relationships with team members, provide thought leadership, and demonstrate influence by driving initiatives to completion effectively and efficiently.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Technical Expertise

• Programming Mastery: Minimum 2 years of demonstrated proficiency in Python with experience in predictive modeling using frameworks such as TensorFlow, SparkMLib, PyTorch, LightGBM, MXNet, or similar advanced ML libraries.


• Cloud Platforms: At least 2 years of expert-level experience working with cloud platforms, specifically AWS (Amazon Web Services) and/or GCP (Google Cloud Platform).


• Software Development: Strong command of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), QA processes, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) design patterns.


• Data Engineering: Master-level experience with both structured and unstructured data (including images, video, text, audio, and other formats) and expertise with SQL, relational databases, and NoSQL databases.


• Data Workflow Management: Minimum 2 years of experience with Apache Airflow or other data workflow management tools.


• Version Control & MLOps: Hands-on experience with version control systems such as GitHub and GitLab, Model Operations (MLOps), and CI/CD pipelines.


• Systems Integration: Strong systems integration architecture skills with the ability to transform new technologies into business solutions.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

While the following skills are not required, they would be highly valued and could set you apart as an ideal candidate:

• Experience with containerization technologies, particularly Docker


• Experience with orchestration control systems


• Experience with Kubernetes for container management


• Experience with cloud solutions beyond AWS/GCP


• Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence


• Experience with Agile development methodologies


• Knowledge of automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment practices


• Experience with data visualization and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Plotly, Tableau)


• Experience with audio analysis and signal processing


• Experience with text analysis and natural language processing


• Advanced Degree: Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
