Position Overview: Data Scientist, Analytics

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist, Analytics to join our Information Research and Data Platform - Insights team. In this pivotal role, you will provide critical data analysis and support to platform, management, and operational engineering teams, directly shaping how success is measured across our organization.

As a key member of our analytics community, you will be responsible for defining the right questions to ask, scaling analysis methodologies and tools to support our rapidly growing business, and helping to establish the vision for business analytics, solution architecture for data-driven business initiatives, and tactical execution including exploratory analysis and mission-critical reporting. You will be preparing arenaflex for high-quality, high-velocity decision-making and will report directly to the Director of Data Science.

What You'll Do

As a Data Scientist, Analytics at arenaflex, you will play a crucial role in driving data-informed decision-making throughout the organization. Your responsibilities will include:

• Strategic Data Partnership: Work closely with Platform and Services teams to guide them toward better decision-making using available data, serving as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert.


• Insight Communication: Advance data and insights by managing communications with partners and various teams, collaborating with stakeholders to complete data projects, and ensuring all parties can leverage insights to further improve operations.


• Client-Centric Approach: Maintain a client-driven focus while becoming a domain and product expert through data, developing trust among peers, and ensuring teams and projects have access to data for informed decision-making.


• Complex Problem Solving: Manage ambiguous issues and adapt tools to address complex queries, finding innovative solutions to challenging analytical problems.


• Trade-off Analysis: Identify the trade-offs between speed and quality of different approaches, balancing analytical rigor with business urgency.


• Metrics Framework Development: Create analytical frameworks to measure team success by collaborating with teams to establish success metrics, develop approaches to track data and analyze errors, measure and evaluate data to develop a common language for all stakeholders to understand these metrics.


• Operational Excellence: Operationalize data processes to provide partners with ad-hoc analysis, automated dashboards, and self-service reporting tools, ensuring everyone has a fair view of the business state.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with both technical and non-technical staff members throughout the organization, influencing decisions and driving impact across multiple teams and business units.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking an experienced data professional who is eager to tackle complex challenges and make a meaningful impact. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with ambiguity, passionate about data-driven decision-making, and skilled at translating technical findings into actionable business recommendations.

Essential Qualifications

• Professional Experience: 3+ years of domain experience in consumer web businesses, or in fast-paced, high-growth product or team environments.


• Technical Skills: Master SQL skills and proficiency in Python or R programming languages.


• Data-Driven Impact: Demonstrated experience using data to create understanding and drive measurable business results.


• Analytical Expertise: Familiarity with data analysis and communication around data, including time series analysis, experimentation, data visualization, and defining KPI strategies for business areas.


• Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain strong relationships across teams and departments.


• Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Passion for online communities, gaming, and digital streaming platforms.


• Experience in Operational Excellence, defining metrics, and building analysis reporting frameworks.


• Experience working with software development and operational event data.


• Knowledge of machine learning techniques such as logistic regression, decision trees, and neural networks.
