The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Matching and Relevance Team, where you'll play a critical role in developing cutting-edge machine learning models that power our job search ranking and recommendation systems. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex, large-scale problems that directly affect the experience of millions of job seekers and employers around the globe.

As part of our Core AI group, you'll collaborate with partners across the organization to address "big picture" challenges and deliver transformative, long-term value. You'll have the chance to work with one of the richest datasets in the employment industry, applying your expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and recommendation systems to solve real-world problems at scale.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Develop Machine Learning Models: Build, train, and optimize ranking models from prototype to production. You'll work on understanding user intent and delivering the most relevant job listings to each job seeker.


• Data Preparation and Analysis: Prepare and analyze large datasets, ensuring data quality and developing pipelines that support model training and evaluation.


• Model Optimization: Continuously improve model performance through experimentation, hyperparameter tuning, and the implementation of best practices for evaluation and monitoring.


• MLOps Excellence: Implement robust MLOps practices to ensure reliable model inference and deployment at scale.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across the organization, including product managers, software engineers, and other data scientists, to integrate your models into product applications.


• Code Review and Knowledge Sharing: Participate in code reviews and contribute to process innovation. You'll share your findings and insights with the team, helping elevate the entire organization's data science capabilities.


• Technical Leadership: Balance technical excellence with product thinking, demonstrating ownership for team goals and arenaflex's mission to help people get jobs.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics, or related disciplines.


• Professional Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer, Data Scientist, or Machine Learning Engineer.


• Technical Expertise: Strong domain knowledge in training, fine-tuning, and evaluating large-scale machine learning models.


• Deep Learning Proficiency: Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face.


• Programming Skills: Strong coding skills in Python, with the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ranking and Recommendations: Knowledge of recommendation systems, particularly ranking algorithms, is highly preferred.


• Production ML Experience: Prior experience deploying machine learning solutions at scale in production environments.


• Programming Versatility: Basic working knowledge of Java is a plus.


• Research Background: Familiarity with recent research publications and open-source advancements in machine learning and natural language processing.
