Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated IT Application Analyst to lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-wide data solutions. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to build scalable data pipelines, ensure data quality and reliability, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver against business requirements. Key Responsibilities
As an IT Application Analyst at arenaflex, you will be responsible for driving the technical direction of data engineering initiatives and ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leadership and Mentorship: Oversee and mentor the engineering work of other team members on data projects, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Solution Design and Development: Design, develop, and deploy scalable and efficient data solutions that meet current and future business needs, utilizing modern data architecture patterns and best practices.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality, reliability, and security of data solutions through rigorous testing, continuous monitoring, and proactive optimization efforts.
- Data Pipeline Management: Build and maintain high-quality data architecture and pipelines to support comprehensive business reporting requirements and analytics initiatives.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor data pipelines continuously and proactively identify and resolve any performance or reliability issues before they impact business operations.
- Data Quality Management: Ensure data integrity and reliability by implementing robust data validation, error handling, and data cleansing strategies.
- ETL Development: Collaborate with various teams to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources including CSV, Excel, email attachments, SmartSheet, and other enterprise systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and operations groups to understand business requirements and deliver solutions that meet high operational standards for system availability and reliability.
- System Enhancement: Build and enhance software to extend system, application, or tool functionality, improving business processes and meeting end-user needs while working within the overall system architecture.
- Problem Resolution: Analyze and resolve operational issues, perform detailed root cause analysis, and develop recommendations for process and system improvements.
- Documentation: Document data engineering processes, workflows, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and maintain a robust knowledge base across the organization.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must possess a strong educational background and proven hands-on experience in data engineering and cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated experience providing oversight and leadership for data engineering projects, with the ability to guide teams toward successful outcomes.
- Strong expertise in building, developing, maintaining, and optimizing scalable database systems, including data modeling, data warehousing, ETL pipeline development, and reporting solutions.
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including AWS Glue, AuroraDB (MySQL) - RDS, Amazon WorkMail, Amazon SES, S3, Lambda, Redshift, SQS, IAM (Users, Groups, Roles, and Permissions), VPC, and infrastructure configuration.
- Experience working with modern data structures and Lambda-based architectures.
- Advanced proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries for large-scale data operations.
- Solid knowledge of Open Source Data Technologies including Hadoop, Hive, HBase, Pig, Flash, and related big data frameworks.
- Minimum 2+ years of development experience in Python, Ruby, Scala, or other platform-related big data technologies.
- Understanding of professional software development practices and best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Experience building reporting systems such as QuickSight, PowerBI, or similar business intelligence platforms.
- Experience building data warehouse reporting systems for Business Analysis using various technologies.
- Experience with responsive design and UI development for data entry systems, including writeback reporting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following additional experience and skills will be highly preferred:
- Experience with collaboration and productivity tools such as SmartSheet, Asana, HoneyCode, or Power Apps.
- JavaScript and/or React JS knowledge and hands-on experience for building interactive data interfaces.
- Industry experience as a Data Engineer or related specialty (e.g., Software Engineer, Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Scientist) with a proven track record of managing, processing, and extracting value from large datasets.
- Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing datasets from multiple sources.
- Strong query execution tuning abilities using Unix profiling tools and SQL optimization techniques.
- Experience leading large-scale data warehousing and analysis projects, including utilizing AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, EC2, Data Pipeline, and other big data technologies.
- Familiarity with non-relational databases and data stores, including object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, and column-family databases.
