Position Overview: Sports Statistics Analyst I

As a Sports Statistics Analyst I within arenaflex's Details and Data Gathering department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and intelligence of sports data across virtually all arenaflex platforms – including our television networks, digital properties, mobile apps, fantasy sports platforms, and game cast features. This position offers both full-time and part-time employment opportunities, making it ideal for individuals seeking flexible schedules or those looking to enter the exciting world of sports media.

The Details and Investigation team is responsible for generating or maintaining scores, statistics, schedules, standings, leaderboards, and comprehensive sports data that power countless arenaflex products and broadcasts. As a Statistics Analyst, you will work with both automated data feeds and manual data entry processes to ensure the seamless delivery of precise, up-to-the-minute sports information to fans worldwide. Your attention to detail will directly impact the credibility and reliability of arenaflex's sports coverage.

Beyond raw data entry, Statistics Analysts at arenaflex are expected to contribute to narrative development by recognizing statistical trends and events that help explain why teams win or lose. Analysts with specialized training in mathematics, economics, database management, SQL programming, or related fields will have opportunities to apply their skills to advanced data projects and storytelling initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure Data Accuracy: Maintain the highest standards of accuracy, timeliness, and intelligence in all sports information distributed by the Details and Data team across arenaflex's global platforms.


• Real-Time Data Processing: Work both independently and collaboratively in team settings to deliver accurate statistical breakdowns, clock-and-score updates, and comprehensive measurements in real-time that power arenaflex's extensive product portfolio and broadcasts.


• Platform Knowledge Development: Develop and maintain a working knowledge of how Details and Data functions as the engine powering arenaflex's digital products and television productions.


• Quality Assurance: Verify the accuracy of your own work and the work of others; consistently demonstrate high attention to detail in all production scenarios.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Contribute to projects, initiatives, and drives across the newsroom while supporting leadership in coordinating full-time and part-time staff members.


• Problem Anticipation and Resolution: Identify potential issues – both daily operational challenges and long-term strategic concerns – and propose effective solutions. Communicate rapidly and decisively with colleagues regarding these matters.


• Process Improvement: Play a proactive role in working with partners to develop or refine production processes, driving continuous improvement in our data operations.


• Team Engagement: Be an active participant in team and department meetings, contributing ideas and supporting team objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Sports Knowledge: Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules governing various sports.


• Schedule Availability: Full schedule flexibility, which will include evening shifts (exclusively), weekends, and holidays. This position requires the ability to work during all major sporting events and competitions.


• Quick Learning Ability: Capability to rapidly master production processes that generate and maintain sports data powering arenaflex's digital and television products.


• Accuracy Under Pressure: Ability to achieve exceptional content accuracy in time-sensitive production environments while meeting tight deadlines.


• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively interact with production managers and colleagues about production issues and opportunities, often in the dynamic environment of a busy newsroom.


• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry Experience: One or more years of experience working in sports or statistics, preferably in a media environment.


• Media Data Knowledge: Understanding of how sports data is utilized in media broadcasting and research applications.


• Product Familiarity: Working knowledge of arenaflex products and broadcast productions.


• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products; experience with database management and SQL programming is a plus.


• Leadership Experience: Experience leading or mentoring a team is desirable.


• Language Skills: Ability to speak and write in Spanish is a valuable asset.

Additional Requirements

This position requires working all night shifts (exclusively), weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be prepared to embrace the unique schedule demands of live sports broadcasting, where games don't always follow traditional business hours!

Compensation & Benefits

arenaflex offers competitive compensation packages that recognize the skills and dedication of our team members. The salary range for this position is $35,000 - $40,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
