Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and visionary Associate Director of Product Design to lead our talented team of UX designers who are building provider-facing tools and experiences. In this role, you will be instrumental in enabling our providers to effectively onboard to arenaflex and grow their businesses through properly managed product listings, pricing strategies, advertising, and reviews.
This is a highly visible workstream that drives significant impact across our entire ecosystem. As a key member of our digital product leadership team, you will collaborate closely with partners from Product Management, Engineering, and Data Analysis to align UX efforts with business objectives and customer needs. What You'll Do
As the Associate Director of Product Design at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our provider-facing platforms. You will be responsible for leading a team of skilled UX designers while also contributing directly to strategic design initiatives that drive business growth and customer satisfaction.
Experience Vision and Strategy
- Develop and execute clear strategy for the client experience, aligning innovation and design efforts with feasibility, scalability, and business impact
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Data Analysis partners to foster a client-focused approach throughout the product development lifecycle
- Drive a deep understanding of our clients' needs, behaviors, and pain points through robust client research initiatives
- Translate client insights into meaningful design principles and strategies that inform product development and continuous iteration and optimization
- Utilize data analysis and client behavior insights to make informed design decisions
- Implement research findings and client feedback analysis to validate design hypotheses and iterate on solutions
- Stay current with the latest UX trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in the e-commerce industry
- Apply this knowledge to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge
Design Execution and Delivery
- Apply design thinking principles and oversee the creation of exceptional client experiences that balance objectives with elegant simplicity
- Drive urgency in the team to deliver work, emphasizing the use of lean tools and techniques to more rapidly deliver value
- Lead project management, responsibility distribution, and ensure timely project delivery while maintaining a high level of quality
- Create comprehensive design artifacts including detailed site maps, user flows/task flows, user journeys, page flows, taxonomies/folksonomies, purchase paths, wireframes, annotations, and prototypes that address interaction recommendations
- Ensure design consistency across all touchpoints and maintain high standards for usability and accessibility
Team Leadership and Management
- Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of talented UX designers and design managers
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages creativity, continuous learning, and professional growth
- Serve as a thought leader who can step back on overall goals and opportunities while also acting as a product expert who can work closely alongside their teams with deep domain knowledge and design expertise
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support career development planning for team members
- Champion design excellence and advocate for the user throughout the organization
- Build cross-functional relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
What You'll Need
We're looking for a candidate who brings a unique blend of strategic vision, design expertise, and leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering impactful design solutions in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or comparable in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Information Engineering, or related field
- Solid understanding of design processes with knowledge of what is possible and what will be challenging to achieve and/or execute in a digital environment
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present and articulate ideas clearly and persuasively
- Openness to advancing opinions that challenge beliefs and foster constructive debate
- Strong proficiency in current design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Framer, InVision, Adobe XD, UXPin, and Creative Suite
- Demonstrated ability to develop relevant deliverables including detailed site maps, user flows/task flows, user journeys, page flows, taxonomies/folksonomies, purchase paths, wireframes, annotations, and prototypes that address interaction recommendations
- An online portfolio of case studies demonstrating experience in shaping B2B, SaaS, or Enterprise platform experiences with unwavering advocacy for the user, data-driven guidance, and strategic thinking
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript; hands-on skills are a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Design, HCI, or related field
- Experience leading design teams in e-commerce or marketplace environments
- Proven track record of driving measurable improvements in user engagement and business metrics
- Experience with provider-facing or merchant-facing platform design
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable design insights
- Experience working in agile development environments
