What You'll Do
In this role, you'll be responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of our critical hardware and server infrastructure. Your daily activities will include working with servers and their components, configuring advanced networking equipment, and managing Linux-based systems that form the foundation of our operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Deployment & Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, and related components in our state-of-the-art data center facilities. You'll work with the latest enterprise-grade equipment and ensure optimal performance of all installed systems.
- Linux Server Management: Configure and troubleshoot Linux operating systems on servers, working with our advanced Linux cluster environments. You'll apply your expertise to resolve OS-related issues and optimize system performance.
- Network Infrastructure: Configure and manage networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches, and networking protocols. You'll ensure seamless connectivity across our global infrastructure and troubleshoot complex networking issues.
- Incident Response: Participate in or lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve critical and escalated technical problems. You'll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
- Testing & Validation: Test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs, providing valuable feedback to engineering teams for continuous improvement.
- Project Participation: Engage in or lead small project teams for large-scale installations and infrastructure upgrades. You'll develop project contingency plans and ensure smooth execution of critical initiatives.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to support knowledge sharing and team effectiveness.
What We're Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience troubleshooting hardware or network-related issues using Linux-based tools
- Hands-on experience with hardware, networking equipment, operating systems, and data center operations
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work effectively under pressure
- Ability to perform physical tasks including manual movement and installation of racks and equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional education is a plus)
- Willingness to work in a data center environment in Alabama, USA
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a data center or network operations center environment
- Experience with light coding or scripting (Python, Bash, Perl, or similar)
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
- Experience with server virtualization technologies
- Knowledge of monitoring and management tools
- Ability to collaborate and partner with people and teams to overcome challenges
- Strong communication skills and a customer-service oriented mindset
