As an Actuarial Development Program Analyst, you will have the unique opportunity to rotate through four key business areas, each designed to provide you with comprehensive exposure to the actuarial function within a large healthcare organization. This rotational structure ensures you develop a well-rounded skill set and a broad understanding of how actuarial work impacts business outcomes across the enterprise.

What You'll Experience

Throughout the program, you will immerse yourself in strategic business areas and gain exposure to the following key responsibilities:


  • Risk Assessment: Understand the concept of specific risks and present analysis results to senior management. You'll learn how to evaluate potential risks facing the organization and communicate your findings effectively to stakeholders.

  • Rate Filing: Organize and analyze filing data, then prepare and submit essential presentations for regulatory filings. This critical function ensures compliance with state and federal regulations while maintaining competitive positioning in the market.

  • Reserve Analysis: Analyze claim data and monitor reserve levels for adequacy, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of actuarial reserving methods and issues. You'll develop expertise in financial forecasting and risk mitigation.

  • Planning and Forecasting: Provide technical support and analysis for planning, estimating, and reporting processes. You'll contribute to strategic initiatives that shape the future of our business.

  • Pricing, Trend, and Benefit Design: Develop and recommend pricing and trend projections for products and/or benefits. This is a high-impact area where your analytical skills will directly influence business strategy.

  • Technical Capability: Develop innovative technical solutions for various business challenges. You'll demonstrate proficiency with spreadsheets and gain knowledge of database and online applications. Create and execute appropriate tools and models, and develop and document business requirements and specifications for processes, tools, and systems.

Work Environment and Location

We understand that flexibility is important in today's work environment. arenaflex follows a hybrid work model that provides office-based team members with the ability to flex between working in the office and telecommuting based on the work you need to accomplish. The position is based in Hartford, Connecticut – one of our premier actuarial hubs where you'll have access to experienced mentors, comprehensive training resources, and a collaborative team environment. For candidates who need to relocate more than 50 miles from their current residence, relocation assistance will be provided to ensure a smooth transition to your new role and community.

Visa Sponsorship

This position is eligible for participation in Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and F-1 Visa programs. Required Qualifications

To be considered for this program, you must meet the following requirements:


  • Educational Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field is required. Academic coursework in calculus, probability, and statistics is strongly preferred.

  • Relocation Readiness: Must be willing to relocate to our Hartford, CT actuarial hub to fully participate in the program and benefit from the immersive learning experience.

  • Commitment to Learning: Demonstrated willingness to pursue actuarial examinations and achieve professional credentials.
