The Opportunity: APAC Payroll Specialist
We are currently seeking a newly created APAC Payroll Specialist to be based in our Philippines office, working closely with the Finance and Payroll team across the Asia-Pacific region. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of employee net pay assigned to you, with a high degree of duty, discretion, and confidentiality.
As an integral member of our payroll team, you will play a vital role in maintaining our commitment to excellence in employee compensation and support. This position offers the chance to work with a diverse team across multiple countries while developing your expertise in international payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end payroll processing for assigned APAC countries using our third-party payroll provider, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all transactions.
- Weekly Expenses Processing: Handle weekly expense processing in-house through Workday Host-to-Host payment systems, maintaining precision and adherence to company policies.
- Payroll Administration: Prepare, post, and manage payroll changes including new hires and leavers for each entity, delivering to payroll providers timely through Workday HCM.
- New Hire Compliance: Responsible for reporting new hires and leavers' files to the payroll company within established timelines, ensuring all new hire documentation complies with regulatory requirements.
- Data Validation: Perform validation of payroll input against payroll checks and coordinate with payroll carriers for required changes and corrections.
- Payment Coordination: Coordinate with payroll companies on timely payout to employees and statutory payments, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Reporting & Compliance: Carry out tasks associated with monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reporting and taxation activities.
- Employee Support: Serve as the point of contact for employees on payroll questions through the Zendesk ticketing system, providing outstanding support and resolution.
- Financial Administration: Record, screen monthly payroll pricing, and raise purchase orders as necessary.
- Contract Management: Report and monitor payroll providers' contract renewal dates to ensure continuous service coverage.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with Philippines and Singapore team members while following global system alignment and best practices.
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, or a related field is required.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll and accounting processing within a BPO or shared services environment.
- Regional Expertise: Experience working in APAC payroll, specifically in Korea, Australia, and India, is a must-have qualification.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Remarkable understanding of payroll and associated statutory labor laws required for accurate payroll-related calculations.
- Technical Proficiency: Above-average proficiency in Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Microsoft Excel and Word, and Workday HCM systems.
- Language Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English is essential for effective collaboration across regional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in multinational corporation payroll operations
- Knowledge of multiple Asia-Pacific payroll systems and processes
- Certification in payroll accounting or related professional qualifications
- Familiarity with Zendesk ticketing systems
- Experience in process improvement initiatives
