About the Role: Data Analysis Co-Op – Crew Resources & Scheduling

As a Data Analysis Co-Op at arenaflex, you'll play a critical role in helping us optimize one of the most complex operational challenges in the aviation industry: managing crew resources efficiently and effectively. Our Crew Resources and Scheduling team is responsible for ensuring that our flights are properly staffed with qualified crew members, all while complying with stringent aviation regulations, minimizing costs, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.

You'll work directly with a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about data-driven decision-making. This is not a passive role – you'll be actively involved in identifying manual processes that can be automated, designing and implementing new solutions, and delivering results that have a measurable impact on our operations. You'll tackle exciting and challenging projects that contribute directly to cost savings and time efficiency across the organization.

What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day work will be dynamic, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. Here's what you can expect:


  • Analyze Complex Datasets: Dive deep into large datasets related to crew resources, flight schedules, crew assignments, and other critical operational data. You'll use your analytical skills to uncover patterns, trends, and insights that drive smarter decision-making.
  • Create Impactful Reports and Dashboards: Develop regular reports and interactive dashboards that provide real-time insights into crew-related metrics and overall performance. Your visualizations will help leadership make informed decisions quickly.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with Crew Resources departments to forecast crew requirements based on flight schedules, crew availability, and regulatory requirements. You'll be a key contributor to our forecasting and planning processes.
  • Develop Optimization Models: Assist in the development of crew planning strategies and optimization models that improve efficiency while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Manage Critical Data Assets: Maintain and manage databases and datasets related to crew resources, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency for effective analysis.
  • Define and Monitor KPIs: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for crew resource management and continuously monitor crew-related metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that crew scheduling and assignments comply with aviation regulations and company policies. Stay abreast of changes in regulations and adapt systems and procedures accordingly.
  • Automate Manual Processes: Identify manual procedures that can be improved through data automation and design/implement replacement solutions that reduce tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Project Management: Use strong project management skills to ensure all obligations are completed on time and on budget, while effectively managing your personal workload.

What We're Looking For: Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications (Required)


  • Educational Status: Must be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with SQL or database querying tools, including ETL processes and fundamental concepts of data modeling, is required.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in at least one scripting programming language such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell is strongly preferred.
  • Spreadsheet Expertise: Strong computer skills with substantial experience in Excel, including advanced functions and VBA (Visual Basic for Applications).
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside the box and approach challenges creatively.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational, project management, and personal management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Robust verbal and written communication skills at all levels, with the ability to present complex data insights clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work properly in teams and collaborate effectively with colleagues across different departments.
  • Educational Background: Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Authorization: Must be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Safety Focus: Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.)

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI

  • Familiarity with aviation operations or crew scheduling systems

  • Coursework in operations research, optimization, or supply chain management
