Job Overview

This is a full-time remote position based in Indiana, USA, where you will be responsible for assembling and maintaining large-scale data pipelines that support advanced analytics and data science initiatives. You will play a pivotal role in identifying and integrating significant internal and external data sources, working closely with our data science team to design, develop, and deploy solutions that meet evolving business needs.

Key Responsibilities


As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be at the forefront of our data infrastructure initiatives. Your primary responsibilities will include:


  • Pipeline Development: Assemble and maintain large data pipelines that support investigation and data science solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.

  • Data Identification: Identify significant internal and external data sources that can enhance business intelligence and drive strategic decision-making across the organization.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists to define data requirements for the design, development, and deployment of new solutions that support business needs.

  • Software Development: Develop programming solutions that process, store, and serve data for use by internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Data Modeling: Create data models and pipelines to integrate, collect, and normalize data that produces actionable insights and meets reporting requirements.

  • ETL Development: Write Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes, design database systems, and develop tools for both real-time and batch analytical processing.

  • Pipeline Architecture: Develop flexible, repeatable, and secure data pipelines that can scale with business growth and evolving requirements.

  • Quality Assurance: Analyze programming and processes for data consistency and integrity, implementing best practices to maintain data quality.

  • Source Integration: Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring adherence to data quality and accessibility standards.

  • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve issues and roadblocks as they occur, minimizing downtime and maintaining system reliability.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Interface with internal and external partners to exchange semi-complex information related to assigned activities and projects.

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need to meet the following minimum requirements:


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in data engineering; OR a Master's degree in a technical discipline.

  • Database Expertise: Advanced knowledge of SQL, including complex query optimization, stored procedures, and database design principles.

  • Relationship Building: Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal stakeholders (peers, colleagues, and leadership) and external partners (business community, clients, and vendors) within a matrix organization to ensure quality service standards.

  • Data Analysis: Experience analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions that drive improvement of results and find effective solutions.

  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (both within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications


While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:


  • Master's degree or higher in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Data Science, or Information Systems.

  • Experience with REST API development and integration.

  • Experience with Azure application deployment and cloud infrastructure management.

  • Proficiency in Azure technologies, including:

    • Azure Data Factory for data integration and orchestration

    • Azure Databricks using Python or Scala for advanced analytics

    • Azure Application Services for hosting and managing applications

    • Azure Data Lake for scalable data storage

    • Azure Functions for serverless computing

    • Event Hubs and Event Grid for real-time data streaming

    • Logic Apps for workflow automation



  • Experience building Azure DevOps pipelines to enable CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation.

  • Knowledge of big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks.

  • Experience with data warehousing solutions and dimensional modeling.
