What You'll Do at arenaflex

As a pivotal member of our CENTROID Data Science team, you'll develop intelligent solutions that make highly visible and significantly impactful decisions in network transformation. Your work will directly influence how arenaflex delivers on its promise of offering the widest product assortment, the lowest prices, and the most modern capabilities to customers everywhere.

Your responsibilities will span across critical areas of our supply chain ecosystem:

• Network Design Innovation: Architect solutions for ambient and perishable product inbound network design, ensuring freshness and efficiency from warehouse to shelf.


• Flow Optimization: Optimize center-mile network flow to reduce transit times and costs while maximizing throughput across our vast distribution infrastructure.


• Last-Mile Excellence: Design and refine last-mile delivery and returns strategies that create seamless customer experiences while maintaining operational efficiency.


• Inventory Intelligence: Develop sophisticated inventory placement models and targets that ensure product availability while minimizing carrying costs.


• Transportation Strategy: Build transportation and monetization strategies that provide arenaflex with competitive advantages in the medium to long term.


• Advanced Modeling: Apply diverse methodologies spanning operations research, classical machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and causal inference to solve real-world problems at scale.

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking a talented Operations Research Scientist who thrives on solving complex, large-scale optimization problems and is passionate about applying quantitative expertise to real-world business challenges. You'll need the technical acumen to develop sophisticated models and the communication skills to translate complex findings into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (Ph.D. or M.S.) in a quantitative discipline such as Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field, with up to ten years of relevant work experience


• Strong foundation in operations research methodologies, including mathematical programming, stochastic programming, or related applied disciplines with heavy use of optimization modeling


• Hands-on experience with optimization toolkits and libraries such as CPLEX, Gurobi, XPressMP, or open-source solvers


• Strong software development proficiency in Python with familiarity to machine learning libraries including Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras


• Data querying capabilities using SQL


• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences


• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional business leaders

What Would Set You Apart:

• Demonstrated capability as a full-stack data scientist who develops, optimizes, and scales models for production environments


• Strong proficiency with optimization modeling techniques including Linear Programming, Mixed Integer Programming, and Non-Linear Programming, combined with advanced statistical modeling expertise (e.g., SVM, Random Forest, Bayesian inference, Graph models, NLP, Computer Vision, Neural Networks)


• Experience solving challenging inventory and operations planning problems


• Experience solving stochastic discrete optimization problems using various heuristics, integer programming models, and simulation-based approaches


• Familiarity with cloud technologies including GCP, Azure, as well as Spark, Hive, and TensorFlow


• A strong record of peer-reviewed publications in top-tier conferences and journals
