The Role: Java Software Engineer – Customer Systems

As a Java Software Engineer on our Customer Systems team, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems that support our customer-facing applications. You'll work closely with business stakeholders, product managers, and other engineers to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and business.

This position requires someone who can work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. You'll be responsible for understanding requirements, architecting solutions, and implementing robust systems that can handle massive scale. Key Responsibilities

• Design and Development: Architect, design, and implement highly available and scalable enterprise solutions using Java and Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) technologies that can match arenaflex's massive scale and performance requirements.


• Backend Systems: Build and maintain backend systems and microservices that power customer-facing applications, ensuring reliability, performance, and security.


• Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, designers, and project managers to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business objectives.


• Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to fellow engineers.


• Database Design: Design and implement database schemas, optimize queries, and work with both SQL and NoSQL technologies to choose the right solution for each use case.


• API Development: Architect and build REST-based stateless APIs and web services for web and mobile applications, ensuring seamless integration and excellent user experiences.


• Performance Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimization strategies to ensure systems run efficiently under high load.


• Security: Implement security best practices and build secure, reliable distributed applications that protect customer data.


• Technical Leadership: Mentor and guide other engineers, contribute to architectural decisions, and drive best practices across the team.


• Agile Participation: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.


• Strong proficiency in Java and Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) application development.


• Minimum of 2 years of experience designing and building mobile enterprise-level backend solutions.


• Demonstrated experience with Spring Framework, multi-threading, and RESTful API development.


• Hands-on experience with database design and data access technologies, including both SQL and NoSQL systems.


• Experience with distributed systems architecture, concurrent programming, and data structure optimization.


• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.


• Experience building and deploying highly scalable, low-latency web applications.


• Knowledge of security principles and the ability to build secure, resilient distributed applications.


• Solid understanding of application performance optimization techniques and caching solutions.


• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.


• Experience with responsive Java applications is a significant plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AI and machine learning systems, particularly those involving large-scale data infrastructure.


• Background in architecting and designing Application layers within Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) or Microservices environments.


• Experience designing natural interfaces for Web applications and API Platforms.


• Familiarity with cloud platforms and cloud-native architectures.


• Experience working in a large enterprise environment with global teams across different time zones and geographies.

Compensation & Benefits
