What You'll Accomplish
The TechOps organization at arenaflex plays a central role in delivering IaaS/PaaS/SaaS for our ISG Development teams. We accelerate the speed of innovation to meet their needs by ensuring all critical systems are running 24x7 to support Engineering Development while simultaneously driving division-wide Transformation Initiatives to modernize Engineering Operations across multiple lines of business.
As our Lead DevOps Specialist (Kubernetes, Linux), you will be responsible for:
- Infrastructure Leadership: Overseeing the sustainment and maintenance of our core Kubernetes system platforms, orchestrated through OpenShift, Rancher, and VMware Tanzu, adhering to appropriate standards and best practices in a swift work environment.
- Kubernetes as a Service: Serving as the technical lead for "Kubernetes as a Service," presenting to internal clients and helping them understand the requirements for "On-Demand K8s Cluster" on-prem cloud (OpenShift, VMware Tanzu, and Rancher) across multiple stages, providing expert guidance.
- GitOps Implementation: Implementing GitOps principles to incorporate enterprise-wide cluster provisioning/automation and Day 2 lifecycle management using Kubernetes-native CI/CD tools like ArgoCD and Jenkins.
- Security & Compliance: Ensuring fundamental security policies are implemented and enforced across all work, managing patch compliance, and maintaining robust security standards.
- Documentation & Requirements: Aiding in the documentation of project requirements, statements of work, and service descriptions to ensure clarity and alignment across teams.
- Disaster Recovery: Ensuring backup and recovery for critical assets, including comprehensive Disaster Recovery planning to protect business continuity.
- Linux System Administration: Administering Linux systems on physical and virtual servers, including installation and maintenance of hardware, software, and applications.
- Troubleshooting & Resolution: Investigating, diagnosing, and resolving issues with any Kubernetes objects such as deployments, instances, namespaces, replication controllers, daemon sets, schedulers, and more.
- Automation & Scripting: Developing scripts to automate workflows and improve operational efficiency across the organization.
Essential Qualifications
To excel in this role, you'll need a solid foundation in cloud-native technologies and a proven track record of delivering complex infrastructure solutions. We're looking for candidates who bring:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry Experience: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in cloud-native frameworks, service-based architecture, container-based solutions development, delivery, and operations across various environments and use cases.
- Kubernetes Expertise: Master-level working knowledge of OpenShift, VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Services, with strong backgrounds in VMware virtualization, networking/SAN, security, and containerization technologies.
- Platform Development: Proven experience designing, developing, and deploying global-scale platforms for Software-Defined Datacenter, including expertise with container technologies (Docker, containerd, Podman, Kubernetes, NSX-T, Calico, OVN, etc.), Argo/ArgoEvents, DevOps practices, and CI/CD tools.
- CI/CD Implementation: Hands-on experience with DevOps, including continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) for containerized workloads using Jenkins or ArgoCD.
- Programming & Scripting: Programming/Scripting experience with YAML, Python, and Shell scripting, along with experience using configuration management/deployment tools, particularly the Ansible automation platform/AWX.
- Monitoring & Load Balancing: Understanding of Infrastructure, Network, and Application monitoring, with hands-on experience working with Ingress Controllers like NGINX/Haproxy software load-balancers and ALB ingress controllers.
- Backup Solutions: Work experience with PPDM backup tools, Velero, and MinIO for data protection and recovery.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications will give you an edge in our selection process:
- Red Hat OpenShift Certifications
- Kubernetes Certifications such as CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator), CKS (Certified Kubernetes Security), or CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer)
- Experience using ServiceNow for IT service management
- Familiarity with Jira for project tracking and issue management
- Knowledge of Infoblox for IP address management and network automation
