Position Overview

As a Remote Pharmacy Data Entry Specialist at arenaflex, you will be responsible for accurately entering patient information and prescription data into our secure pharmacy systems. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong keyboarding skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. You will serve as a key point of contact for patients, pharmacists, and healthcare providers, ensuring seamless communication and resolution of inquiries.

This position operates under direct supervision and follows established company policies and procedures. You will receive comprehensive training to ensure you have the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in this role. Key Responsibilities


  • Patient Enrollment & Data Entry: Process new patient enrollments by accurately entering demographic and insurance information into the appropriate systems following arenaflex data entry guidelines and procedures.

  • Prescription Processing: Handle patient medication requests within HIPAA guidelines, enter refill orders for processing, and ensure all information is accurately documented in the pharmacy system.

  • Research & Documentation: Investigate to obtain missing prescription information, interpret clinical abbreviations (SIG codes), and resolve all data entry-related exceptions with precision and attention to detail.

  • Customer Communication: Handle correspondence with patients through inbound calls, chats, and emails. Make outbound calls to prescribers and patients as needed to resolve issues or gather necessary information.

  • Third-Party Issue Resolution: Examine, collect information, make corrections, and resubmit third-party claims for processing according to individual plan requirements. Contact insurers and other parties via telephone to obtain information, gain override approval, or otherwise resolve third-party issues.

  • Pharmacist Support: Provide assistance to Pharmacists, both those in the office and those in other locations. Identify and communicate issues to senior-level staff as appropriate.

  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with state and government guidelines.

  • License & Certification: Must obtain an active pharmacy technician license or certification within the first 90 days of employment and maintain an active license or certification throughout employment.

Essential Qualifications


  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Computer Skills: Basic level computer skills including the ability to start up and shut down computers, use mouse functions, start and close programs, switch between programs, save files, print reports, and access information online.

  • Web Navigation: Basic web browser skills including opening a browser, typing URLs correctly, using search engines, bookmarking websites, navigating back/forward/stop buttons, and completing online forms.

  • Typing Skills: Intermediate-level keyboarding skills (minimum 25 WPM) with the ability to type from memory and organize documents efficiently.

  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and team members.

  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with pharmacy systems and the ability to learn new software applications quickly.

  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and the ability to identify discrepancies or missing information.

  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications


  • At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or call center environment.

  • One and a half years of experience as a pharmacy technician with certification/registration by the state as granted by the State Board of Pharmacy or a nationally recognized certification organization.

  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external clients, including meeting quality standards for services and evaluating customer satisfaction.

  • Intermediate to advanced-level keyboarding skills (minimum 35 WPM) with the ability to type from memory and format documents professionally.

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (strongly preferred).

  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and pharmacy industry compliance requirements.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and prescription abbreviations.
