Role Description
This is a full-time, remote role for a Quantitative Researcher focused on Speed Labs' sports markets pricing and signal research.
The Quantitative
Researcher will identify and develop alpha signals across major sports, including player projections, in-game state estimation, situational priors, and public-belief drift.
Key responsibilities include building research analytics that diagnose model performance, partnering with the ML Engineering team to deploy signals into the production pricing layer, owning post-game P&L attribution across markets, and helping shape the trading and risk framework as Speed Labs scales into additional sports and counterparties. Research conducted in this role directly impacts the markets used by every major operator on the platform.
- Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in a quantitative research role at a hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, sportsbook trading desk, or sports analytics team
- Mastery of statistical modeling and probability theory, with deep experience in at least one of: Bayesian methods, time-series modeling, or market microstructure
- Strong proficiency in Python, R, or Julia, along with SQL and modern data tools
- Demonstrated track record of identifying signal in noisy real-world data and translating research into measurable outcomes
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to defend research with rigor
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Economics
- Previous experience in sports analytics, sportsbook trading, or live in-game pricing is a strong plus
Compensation:
$300k + performance bonus + equity + benefits
