About the Dataworks Platform

The Dataworks platform is arenaflex's strategic initiative to democratize data access and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. As a Data Engineer working on Dataworks, you'll play a pivotal role in:

• Data Ingestion: Building robust systems to collect and integrate data from diverse sources across arenaflex's global operations

Key Responsibilities

As a Remote Data Engineer at arenaflex, your daily responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical and collaborative tasks:

• Develop a deep understanding of both business and technical challenges that Dataworks aims to solve, translating complex requirements into elegant engineering solutions


• Design and build tools, platforms, and pipelines that empower teams to analyze data efficiently, construct models, and make data-driven decisions


• Scale solutions from "PC scale" to "cluster scale," addressing infrastructure and problem architecture at enterprise levels


• Collaborate across teams to generate data-driven operational insights that lead to high-value, streamlined solutions


• Deliver tangible value rapidly while working collaboratively with diverse teams across different backgrounds and disciplines


• Establish best practices for future reuse by creating open, reusable patterns, templates, and codebases


• Partner with senior technologists from across the organization and external stakeholders to create integrations and ensure smooth deployments to downstream operational systems


• Participate actively in code reviews and large-scale solution implementations


• Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives

Technical Skills and Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with a strong technical foundation and proven experience in the following areas:

Essential Qualifications:

• Technical background in computer science, programming, database systems, and distributed systems


• In-depth understanding of the transportation and logistics domain, with the ability to identify high-opportunity areas and design approaches that generate and capture value


• Hands-on development skills with the ability to work at the code level and troubleshoot complex issues


• Demonstrated ability to deliver technical projects, often working under tight deadlines to deliver value


• An "engineering" mindset capable of making rapid, pragmatic decisions to improve performance and accelerate progress


• Comfort working with distributed teams on code-based deliverables, using version control systems and participating in code reviews


• DevOps expertise including proficiency in coding, scripting, databases, YAML, JSON, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

Preferred Technical Experience:

• Innovation experience in and knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud platform


• Knowledge of and demonstrated experience building CI/CD pipelines


• Experience developing and operationalizing capabilities under near real-time, high-volume streaming conditions
