The Role: Senior Data Engineer

Are you ready to take your data engineering career to the next level? arenaflex is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our Business Intelligence and Data Platform Operations team. This is a remote opportunity that offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States while contributing to meaningful projects that impact millions of users worldwide.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing our data architecture and ETL pipelines. You will work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in transforming raw data into actionable business insights. Your primary responsibilities include:

Requirements Gathering and Project Scoping: Collaborate with subject matter experts, business users, and executive stakeholders to identify and define business data requirements. Lead requirements gathering sessions to understand data needs and translate them into technical specifications.

Data Architecture Design: Design, build, and optimize data architecture and extract, transform, and load (ETL) pipelines. Ensure that data infrastructure is accessible and user-friendly for data analysts, data scientists, and business users to enable data-driven decision-making.

Productionization and Scaling: Work closely with analysts to productionize and scale value-creating capabilities, including data integrations and transformations, model features, and statistical and machine learning models.

Data Quality and Governance: Drive best practices in data reliability, data integrity, and data governance. Enable accurate, consistent, and trustworthy datasets, business intelligence products, and analyses.

Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with the analyst community, communicate with analysts to understand user journeys and data sourcing inefficiencies, recommend best practices, and lead analyst training sessions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, engineers, and business leaders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business objectives.

Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize data pipeline performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve efficiency and scalability.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data systems, pipelines, and processes. Mentor junior team members and share best practices across the organization.

Essential Qualifications

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Database Expertise: Extensive experience with relational databases, including SQL queries, database definition, and schema design. Strong understanding of database normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
