Position Overview
We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Scientist to apply advanced data science, predictive analytics, and machine learning techniques to provide actionable insights and recommendations. In this role, you will serve as a strategic analytical partner, consulting on program improvement and driving cross-functional initiatives that directly impact our business performance. You'll work with massive datasets, build sophisticated models, and translate complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Model Development & Innovation: Build models and tools using technical expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, probability and decision theory, and other quantitative methods. Innovate by adapting to new modeling techniques and procedures as the field evolves.
- Business Insight Generation: Understand the business context behind large datasets and develop meaningful analytic solutions that address real-world challenges. Translate data into compelling narratives that drive strategic decision-making.
- Advanced Statistical Analysis: Apply analytical rigor and statistical techniques to analyze large volumes of data using advanced methods including predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design and analysis, and data mining. Build recommendation and optimization algorithmic designs, perform data retrieval, complexity analysis, and scientific computing.
- Programming & Technical Development: Program using tech stack including Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other relevant frameworks to implement and deploy machine learning solutions at scale.
- Machine Learning Implementation: Perform machine learning techniques, including supervised and unsupervised algorithms to build predictive models and prescriptive solutions that support diverse business use cases across retail, pharmacy, and healthcare operations.
- Algorithm Design: Build algorithms including decision trees, regression, XGBoost, K-means clustering, and anomaly detection. Apply interpretable machine learning techniques and Bayesian theory to solve complex business problems.
- Cloud Computing & Data Infrastructure: Utilize Cloud Computing on Azure/Databricks platforms and query data warehouses using Snowflake. Design and maintain scalable data pipelines that support advanced analytics initiatives.
- Software Engineering Practices: Utilize software tools and methodologies including GitHub, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), and agile methodologies to ensure robust, production-ready solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with finance, researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide analytical support. Act as a trusted advisor to various business units.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Communicate verbally and in writing to business clients and management teams with diverse levels of technical expertise. Educate stakeholders about our systems while sharing insights and recommendations that drive business value.
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or related quantitative field, with a minimum of four years of experience in data science, machine learning, or quantitative analytics. Alternatively, High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience.
- Advanced Degree Preferred: M.S. in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or similar technical discipline.
- Experience Requirements: At least four years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to create/optimize machine learning, predictive, forecasting, and/or optimization models.
- Programming Expertise: Advanced experience in SQL, Python, PySPark, or other programming languages commonly used in data science and big data environments.
- Statistical Analysis Skills: Advanced degree of skill in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, detecting patterns, analyzing distributions, visualizing results, and extracting insights to help businesses make informed data-driven decisions.
- Machine Learning Competencies: Experience using decision trees and building classifiers. Experience with supervised learning techniques (linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines, etc.) and unsupervised learning techniques (K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, principal components).
- Cloud & Distributed Computing: Experience with Cloud ML systems, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines. Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud platforms.
- Experimental Design: Experience designing and analyzing A/B experiments to measure the impact of changes and drive data-informed product decisions.
- Communication Skills: Advanced degree of skill in conveying rigorous technical standards and issues to non-experts. Experience effectively communicating technical solutions and advocating for solutions to data scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences.
- Business Acumen: At least two years of experience contributing to financial decisions within the organization. Understanding of how analytical insights translate into business value.
- Leadership Experience: At least two years of direct leadership, indirect management, and/or cross-functional team management experience.
- Travel Requirement: Willing to travel up to at least 10% of the time for business purposes (domestic and international).
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or similar technical discipline.
- Experience working with IoT (Internet of Things) and Edge AI technologies.
- Experience in Reinforcement Learning applications.
- Domain experience in Healthcare, Pharmacy, or Retail industries.
