We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Staff Software Engineer to join our High Performance Computing (HPC) and Machine Learning (ML) infrastructure team in Sunnyvale, USA.

As a Staff Software Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for optimizing and developing HPC and ML solutions on the arenaflex Cloud Platform, working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry. What You'll Do
As a key member of our infrastructure engineering team, you will play a critical role in optimizing the performance of our cloud platform for HPC and machine learning workloads. Your technical expertise will be instrumental in designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software solutions that power some of the most demanding computational tasks in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Full Stack Optimization: Perform comprehensive stack optimization for HPC and ML performance on the arenaflex Cloud Platform (ACP) infrastructure, including kernel optimization, userspace communication libraries such as MPI library, libfabric, and NCCL, as well as client HPC and ML applications.
- Solution Development: Develop scalable HPC and ML solutions on the arenaflex Cloud Platform, focusing on performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Technical Leadership: Establish technical direction and standards for a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to ensure best practices are followed.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, other engineering teams, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Innovation: Bring new ideas from all areas of computer science, including data retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, storage, security, AI, and UI design.
- Project Management: Manage project requirements, deadlines, and deliverables while ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Continuous Improvement: Maintain, improve, and enhance existing software solutions, identifying opportunities for optimization and innovation.
What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in software development with strong proficiency in data structures and algorithms.
- Minimum 2 years of experience building and scaling large-reaching systems, distributed systems, or networks.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience with C programming and kernel-level development.
- Experience with Linux device drivers and the Linux Kernel.
- Knowledge of Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) technologies.
- Experience with Linux networking stacks, operating system tuning, and packaging.
- Background in HPC and ML communications, including MPI, collective communication libraries, libfabric, and socket programming.
- Experience optimizing performance for machine learning training and inference workloads.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and architecture.
- Understanding of distributed computing principles and parallel processing.

Compensation & Benefits
