Position Overview
The Director, Decentralized Clinical Trials will serve as a strategic leader within our DCT solutions offerings and projects team, working closely with the Clinical Trials business unit. This role is instrumental in developing arenaflex's DCT services to build and deliver adaptable, efficient, and patient-friendly hybrid and decentralized trials. You will be responsible for driving the successful development and execution of clinical trials while ensuring compliance, quality, and budgetary excellence.
Key Responsibilities
As the Director of Decentralized Clinical Trials at arenaflex, you will oversee the end-to-end management of our DCT initiatives. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Trial Leadership: Responsible for the successful development and execution of clinical trials, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, in compliance with regulatory requirements, and meeting the highest quality standards.
- Cross-Functional Team Management: Lead and manage cross-functional study teams throughout all phases of study development, operationalization, and delivery, ensuring seamless collaboration across departments.
- Strategic Planning Support: Collaborate with the Head of Decentralized Clinical Trials to develop strategic planning, resourcing, and operationalization of decentralized and hybrid trials.
- Vendor Management: Administer the selection and management of decentralized trial vendors, including the development of business requirements and management of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) processes.
- Study Documentation Development: Oversee cross-functional colleagues in developing study documents and plans including protocols, Informed Consent Forms (ICF), Statistical Analysis Plans (SAP), Data Management Plans (DMP), and Safety plan development.
- Team Leadership: Select, train, manage, and coach DCT team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Product and Technology Collaboration: Work closely with Product and Technology leadership to ensure that critical features for clients are launched on time and meet client needs.
- Trial Visit Oversight: Provide oversight for the conduct of remote clinical trial visits, site initiations, and study closeouts with client representatives.
- Business Development: Participate in business development efforts including proposal and budget development and bid defense processes.
- SOP Development: Assist in the development and maintenance of appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), plans, and policies related to DCTs.
- Technical Contribution: Provide input to the technical team for expanding capabilities to support client needs.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must possess a combination of education, experience, and skills that demonstrate your capability to lead our DCT initiatives effectively:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in a related field (Life Sciences, Public Health, Healthcare Administration) preferred.
- Industry Experience: Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or Contract Research Organization (CRO) environment developing and driving DCT projects, including budget and scope development.
- DCT Vendor Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of and experience managing DCT vendors, with understanding of vendor ecosystem and relationship management.
- Regulatory Expertise: Deep understanding of the drug device development process, including decentralized and hybrid trials.
- Regulatory Compliance: Strong working knowledge of ICH Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP), US Code of Federal Regulations (US CFR), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiar with the skills and ability to apply new systems to regular tasks, demonstrating adaptability to evolving technological landscapes.
- Scalability Mindset: Understanding of the importance of scalability and enthusiasm for learning and adapting to technology changes over time.
