Position Overview
We are looking for a seasoned technical leader to manage our Customer Engineering team in Columbus. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical sales, cloud computing, and team leadership. You will be responsible for driving customer success, leading a team of talented engineers, and ensuring that our customers receive the highest level of technical support and guidance throughout their journey with arenaflex.
This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen. You will be working closely with our Sales leadership, Product teams, and Customer Success organizations to ensure that we deliver exceptional value to our customers while meeting our business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
As a Customer Engineer Manager at arenaflex, you will be responsible for:
- Team Leadership and Development: Collaborate with Sales and Customer Engineering leadership to determine appropriate staffing levels to support annualized business objectives, establish work orders, and lead interview teams to fill open positions. You will be instrumental in building and developing a high-performing team of technical professionals.
- Training and Readiness: Evaluate the CE team's go-to-market readiness, identify gaps in CE preparedness, and build comprehensive plans to ensure the team is properly trained and equipped to act in support of annualized business objectives. This includes developing training programs, mentoring team members, and ensuring continuous learning opportunities.
- Business Development: Work with the arenaflex Workspace Outreach team leadership to identify, qualify, and prioritize coverage for business opportunities. You will play a key role in expanding our customer base and driving revenue growth.
- Customer Engagement: Participate in key accounts as executive support and establish relationships across customer territories. You will serve as a trusted advisor to our most important customers, understanding their needs and ensuring their success with arenaflex solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Business Units, Customer Support, Product Managers, Customer Solutions, and Engineering teams to resolve product issues affecting pre- and post-sales customer satisfaction. You will be the bridge between customers and internal teams, ensuring seamless communication and timely resolution of issues.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of strategic plans for the Customer Engineering organization, aligning team goals with overall business objectives and market opportunities.
- Performance Management: Monitor team performance, provide regular feedback, conduct performance reviews, and implement improvement initiatives to drive team excellence.
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. We value diverse educational backgrounds and will consider candidates with equivalent experience in lieu of formal education.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as a technical sales engineer lead in a SaaS or cloud environment, or in a client-facing role. You should have a proven track record of driving technical sales and leading teams to success.
- Experience leading Client Design and managing design teams. This includes the ability to architect solutions, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery excellence.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience with cloud computing concepts, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications would be highly valued:
- An MBA or Graduate degree in Software Engineering or a related field. Advanced education demonstrates strategic thinking and analytical capabilities.
- Experience serving in the capacity of a pre-sales, field engineering lead, or as a client-facing field engineer. This background provides valuable insight into customer needs and expectations.
- In-depth knowledge of PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, public cloud, and related technical concepts. Understanding the broader cloud ecosystem is essential for success in this role.
- The ability to work occasionally across different time zones, supporting our global customer base and collaborating with international teams.
- Experience with enterprise software implementations and migrations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding performance targets.
