What You'll Do

As an Engineer L2 on our Fleet Engineering Team, you will be responsible for the following key duties and responsibilities:


  • Operational Awareness: Keep informed of day-to-day airline operations involving your field of responsibility, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of how your work impacts overall flight operations, scheduling, and passenger satisfaction.
  • Priority Assessment: Assess daily priorities in accordance with airline and departmental objectives and management directives, effectively managing your time and resources to address the most critical issues first.
  • Problem Investigation: Investigate aircraft and component problems which may cause aircraft delays or cancellations, substantial expenditures in manpower or materials, or interruptions in maintenance operations, and determine appropriate corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Technical Disposition: Provide Engineering support as required for disposition of discrepant conditions affecting aircraft or components in order to restore serviceable status, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and manufacturer specifications.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Respond to requests from Maintenance and other airline departments when technical assistance is required to support projects or resolve problems, serving as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor.
  • Project Management: Develop action plans for fleet, multi-fleet, and/or component engineering projects and pursue final dispositions according to assessed priorities, demonstrating strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Departmental Coordination: Coordinate with other airline departments, as required, to provide for effective and efficient implementation of engineering dispositions, fostering positive relationships and collaborative solutions.
  • Documentation: Prepare Engineering documents to implement technical dispositions by providing customized procedures for repairs, modifications, inspections, or other maintenance actions which provide benefits in accordance with airline and departmental objectives and management directives.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in aircraft engineering, maintenance, or technical operations, with specific knowledge of transport category aircraft systems.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of aircraft systems, including but not limited to propulsion, flight controls, avionics, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and industry standards governing aircraft maintenance and engineering.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with the capacity to make sound engineering decisions under pressure.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and effectively interact with various stakeholders.
  • Computer Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and aircraft maintenance tracking systems.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be advantageous:


  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • Current or previous experience with A319/A320/A321 aircraft platforms
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification
  • Experience with reliability analysis and reliability-centered maintenance programs
  • Project management professional certification (PMP, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a major airline or MRO organization
  • Familiarity with aircraft manufacturer technical data systems (e.g., Airbus World, Boeing MyBoeingFleet)
