As a Flight Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive training programs that equip pilots with the skills, knowledge, and leadership capabilities necessary to excel in their careers. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting Fleet Common Programs for all phases of our Captain Leadership Course and Pilot Indoctrin ation programs. You will manage the monthly instructor schedule, coordinate student rosters, and serve as a liaison between the training development team and our pool of experienced instructors. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Training Development and Media Manager, Analytics Supervisor, and other important members of the training ecosystem. You will be expected to support classroom courseware and logistics for all training programs, ensuring that materials are organized, accessible, and delivered effectively. Additionally, you will be responsible for presenting organized briefings and leading interactive discussions that engage participants and promote active learning. This includes adhering strictly to approved curricula, managing classroom resources such as MS PowerPoint presentations, digital documents and manuals, whiteboards, and handouts, and soliciting feedback from attendees to continuously improve the training experience.
The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of the roles and responsibilities of airline pilots, including Pilot in Command and Second in Command duties, expectations for professionalism and leadership, decision-making processes, crew resource management, and hazard and error control. You should be intimately familiar with airline operating policies, procedures, and available resources, and be prepared to serve as a customer service-driven professional who prioritizes the needs of both internal and external clients. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be required to present complex information clearly, lead discussions, and provide constructive feedback to participants throughout their training journey. You must be willing to work at off-site training locations when required and be available to work weekends and holidays as needed to accommodate training schedules. Operation ally, instructors can expect to be scheduled for approximately 10-12 training events per month, providing a balanced workload that allows for preparation time and professional development.
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications. You must always prioritize the safety and security of yourself, others, and sensitive information. You must embrace a diverse set of people, thinking, and working styles, contributing to an inclusive training environment. You must possess a high school degree, GED, or high school equivalency, and be at least 18 years of age with authorization to work in the United States. Most importantly, you must hold an Airline Transport Pilot certificate with aircraft Multiengine Land class rating, and must have served as a pilot at a 14 CFR Part 121 certified air carrier. You must have accumulated a minimum of 2,000 hours as Pilot in Command at a 14 CFR Part 121 certified air carrier, demonstrating the experience level necessary to effectively train and mentor aspiring airline pilots. Candidates should apply no later than 24 months after retiring from a 14 CFR Part 121 certified air carrier, though exceptions may be considered for highly qualified applicants. You must be familiar with the technology required for this position, including the use of Apple iPad tablets, and be conversant in the technology required to access company information, email, schedules, and meetings. Proficiency in MS PowerPoint is essential, as you will be developing and delivering classroom presentations regularly. Finally, you must consistently make safety and security, of self and others, the top priority in all your activities.
