What You'll Do

This position focuses on one or more of the following Data Governance capabilities, and you'll play a pivotal role in advancing each:


  • Data Literacy: Cultivate a data-driven organization by developing programs that enhance data understanding across all departments

  • Data Stewardship: Identify and empower our data experts to ensure proper data management and ownership

  • Data Quality: Ensure that arenaflex has trusted data to succeed by implementing robust quality controls and monitoring

  • Metadata Management: Catalog our data assets and business concepts to improve data discoverability and understanding

  • Master Data Management: Master our critical data elements to ensure consistency across the enterprise

  • Data as an Asset: Make the most of our precious data resources through strategic utilization and monetization

  • Privacy and Compliance: Ensure responsible use and care of our data while meeting all regulatory requirements

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Governance Team Lead at arenaflex, your responsibilities will include:


  • Lead the creation, maintenance, and rollout of arenaflex's Data Governance capabilities

  • Responsible for the capability's workflows, standards, processes, recommendations, and implementation strategies required to make it a consistent reality

  • Be an indispensable part of the Data Governance Program Management from a Data Quality capability perspective

  • Collaborate across the Enterprise to enable Data Governance and data quality standards

  • Work with our Data Governance Executive Committee to define and monitor core metrics and KPIs for each capability

  • Research, review, recommend, and rollout new software solutions and technologies

  • Work with the Data Governance Platform team(s) to automate capability processes and improve efficiency

  • Act as the Product Owner for capability products, ensuring alignment with business needs

  • Serve as the capability's spokesperson and chief marketer, advocating for data governance initiatives

  • Mentor and guide team members to ensure successful project delivery and professional growth

  • Develop comprehensive documentation and training materials for data governance processes

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations including GDPR, CCPA, and other data protection laws

What You Need for Success

Minimum Qualifications


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of Data Analytics and/or Data Governance experience

  • Proven experience implementing one or more Data Governance capabilities in an organizational setting

  • Experience developing and tracking metrics to determine adoption and success of data governance initiatives

  • Experience working with Business Intelligence products, Data Lakes, and Data Warehouses

  • Experience working with sensitive data (including PII, SPII, PHI) and relevant regulatory recommendations that govern such data (such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

  • Experience working with Data Quality and Observability tools

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications


  • Change management experience identifying downstream data impacts for regulatory requirements and reporting

  • Experience automating data governance processes and workflows using market-leading data governance products

  • Detailed experience delivering data governance artifacts including data dictionaries, metadata, lineage, data movement controls, and data element-level data quality controls

  • Experience as a Data Steward, performing as a data expert, auditing, and reviewing data access, acting as a product owner for a data product or data domain

  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps frameworks

  • Airline, Aviation, Travel, and/or Hospitality Industry experience

  • Experience with cloud platforms and big data technologies

  • Knowledge of data modeling and database design principles

Required Skills, Licenses & Certifications


  • Working knowledge of SQL and database query languages

  • Strong knowledge of Data and Analytical standards

  • Data Governance certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or DGSP (Data Governance and Stewardship Professional) are highly desirable

  • Ability to bridge the communication gap by translating technical governance standards to business stakeholders

  • Ability to be flexible in an evolving operating model and pivot seamlessly on areas of focus

  • Ability to manage projects and organizations from concept generation through execution

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills

  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities
