Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Data Scientist to lead our advanced analytics initiatives and drive innovation across our retail operations. This is a senior-level position that offers the flexibility to work remotely from any location within the United States. As a Lead Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be responsible for developing and deploying sophisticated machine learning models that power our forecasting, inventory management, customer insights, and operational efficiency initiatives.
This role demands a strategic thinker who can translate complex business challenges into actionable data-driven solutions. You'll lead a team of talented data scientists and collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to deliver models that have real-world impact. Your work will directly influence how arenaflex serves its customers, optimizes its operations, and stays ahead of competitors in the fast-evolving retail landscape.
Key Responsibilities
As the Lead Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of data science projects, from problem definition to model deployment and monitoring. Your key responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and implementation of advanced statistical and machine learning models that solve critical business problems in retail, including demand forecasting, inventory optimization, customer segmentation, and price optimization.
- Transform retail operations by automating processes that currently require manual intervention and decision-making. You'll build scalable solutions that reduce operational costs and improve efficiency across our supply chain and store operations.
- Collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and summarize large volumes of time-series data to generate strategic insights that lead to new, innovative applications and business opportunities.
- Investigate complex and rich datasets to evaluate business problems, develop problem statements, define success metrics, and drive feasibility studies that validate proposed solutions before full-scale implementation.
- Perform data analysis tasks that extract actionable insights and create compelling storyboards that communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Present clear and accurate root cause analysis to peer scientists, executives, and cross-functional teams, translating complex statistical findings into business-impact language.
- Build training workflows for machine learning algorithms on millions of data points, creating algorithmic solutions that include data understanding, feature engineering, model development, validation, and deployment.
- Lead and develop large-scale implementations of machine learning models and algorithmic solutions using rich retail data sources, ensuring models are scalable, maintainable, and performant.
- Assess model performance and identify opportunities for improvement, continuously refining models to increase accuracy, reduce latency, and enhance business outcomes.
- Collaborate with our global AI team, including scientists, engineers, and colleagues from various departments, to identify and lead new opportunities for data-driven innovation.
- Advocate for best programming practices and serve as a role model for implementing robust, maintainable, and well-documented data science solutions across the organization.
