About the Role

As a Senior Analytics Engineer at arenaflex, you will serve as a technical lead responsible for delivering data and insights initiatives that support our healthcare quality improvement programs. You will work closely with data investigators, Business Intelligence engineers, system administrators, and various stakeholders to ensure the seamless flow of data from multiple sources into reliable, actionable reports and analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities as a Senior Analytics Engineer will encompass the following critical areas:


  • Lead Data Initiatives: Direct the delivery of healthcare data and insights-driven projects and initiatives, supporting both long-term strategic data infrastructure goals and ad-hoc analytical requests that meet our reporting and analysis needs.
  • Data Warehouse Engineering: Plan, develop, and deploy layered databases and data pipelines that support comprehensive reporting and analysis projects across the organization.
  • Data Modeling: Create data staging and preprocessing standards for populating logical and physical data models attached to report-specific working tables, supporting both enterprise business intelligence and predefined reporting solutions.
  • ETL/ELT Excellence: Apply industry-leading data extraction, transformation, and loading best practices to integrate large datasets from various internal production system sources and third-party files.
  • Data Profiling and Analysis: Perform comprehensive data profiling and analysis across internal production systems, manually maintained data repositories, and standard healthcare datasets including member eligibility information, clinical claims, pharmacy claims, and HEDIS ECDS files.
  • Automation Development: Create internal tools to automate all development-related activities including data processing, quality assurance, data validation, and deployment processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with data investigators, BI engineers, system executives, and information consumers to deliver performance insights that drive better health outcomes.
  • Documentation and Standards: Establish and maintain documentation for data models, ETL processes, and data governance standards to ensure consistency and reliability across the organization.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:


  • SQL Expertise: Proven hands-on experience writing and tuning SQL-based ETL/ELT scripts for data integration and transformation tasks.
  • Cloud Data Platform Experience: Experience designing and deploying logically separated data environments using ETL/ELT services including Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Snowflake.
  • Business Intelligence Leadership: Experience providing thought leadership and presenting technical solutions for semantic data layer enhancements related to BI technology platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical teams, internal partners, clients, and vendor relationships.
  • Business Acumen: Minimum of 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in a professional workplace setting.
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team management experience.
  • Travel Capability: Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes, including both in-state and out-of-state travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data Management Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) certification

  • Experience with pharmacy, healthcare, and clinical analytics concepts

  • Knowledge of HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) measures and ECDS (Electronic Clinical Data Systems)

  • Familiarity with healthcare claims data structures including medical claims, pharmacy claims, and member eligibility datasets
